that girl's a rock star )
It was too perfect; someone surely had already beat that storyline to death.
Though he wouldn't deny the image in his head was providing quite a bit of amusement. He enjoyed chatting with her, and having her around while he was working would surely make his work more enjoyable. It only made sense, right? Right. So he was determined to usher her in as some sort of lovely assistant (minus sequins), so that he would both finish this task more quickly, and enjoy doing it ( ... )

Heartache. Yeah, well, Frederick didn't exactly like to think in those terms, therefore the possibility of laying anything on the table (and no, he didn't just mean that as a double entendre...) didn't occur to him ( ... )

Which was really odd, because she wasn't normally the one who would over analyze a bit of flirting. Somehow, though, this was different to her. She tried not to think of it any differently than any of the other blokes she teased and acted coy around. But if she honestly took the time to think about it? She might realize that she felt a little different when she flirted with Frederick.
Good thing she didn't think about it, as that would merely FREAK HER OUT! A lot. Which would probably make her withdraw. So in the end, it was good that she had the capability of ignoring things like feelings and butterflies.
Lauren was so relieved when he didn't ask about her comment. Seriously, what did telling him he could feed her even MEAN?!? ( ... )

Though she had to laugh when he brought up rules, throwing her head back and leaning against the back of the chair, smiling up at him, "No. We definitely wouldn't want any injuries or burns. That would defeat the whole purpose of having fun, right?" Yes, it would. She tried to hold back any laughter that may have threatened to arise at the image of students dancing and then spilling their potions all over! It was somewhat comical for her.
Had he just... did Professor York seriously just... wiggledLauren truly couldn't hold back her laughter. She laughed so hard, that she even snorted. Which may have been embarrassing, but she didn't so ( ... )

"Well," he started, making an effort to ease the tension he felt around himself more so than anything else, "that's good, because there's a lot more to do." He forced himself to smile back, even though he wasn't quite happy at having her leave, either.
At least he'd have classes to distract himself with; that was always good. And then later on, perhaps he would work on more filing so that they wouldn't have as much work to do next time. More organizing and straightening, less boring filing ( ... )

Though, that probably had to do with the fact that she was a little preoccupied with her own feelings. Or rather, she was preoccupied with trying to ignore and deny any feelings that were trying to rush over her.
Nope. Not gonna happen, she had to force anything other than a platonic respect and admiration for him out of her radar immediately. Not just because he was a Professor and that would be Oh So Scandalous, but also because Lauren didn't do the whole 'mushy feelings' thing.
The sucky part? Was that when he smiled at her like that it was almost impossible for her to ignore feelings!! Ugh! This was LAME and she knew then that it was a Very Good thing that she was leaving ( ... )
