I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT KATHERINE IS DEAD. SHE'S NOT DEAD UNTIL WE SEE A BODY. *puts on tinhat and sits in a corner*
Like I just spent the majority of the episode wanting to punch him in the face which is not a reaction Stefan has ever inspired in me before so kudos to you Paul Wesley I guess. UGH IT'S LIKE S2 OF BUFFY ALL OVER AGAIN.LOL YOU SAY THAT LIKE IT'S A BAD THING. IDEC. I LOVED ANGELUS. ANGELUS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ANGEL Also, Elena is handling it all a lot better than Buffy did

MTE, I *love* that whole arc so hard, and Angelus is the best! :p Suddenly DB could act....
But even more I was feeling the chemistry between Anna and Jeremy. When they touched, I flailed a bit. But it sucks because I know that it can't end happily ever after for them. EVERYTHING IS TRAGIC AND I HATE IT. :(
OMG I KNOWWWW THEY ARE SO FLAWLESS AND HAVE SO MUCH CHEMISTRY, SO GLAD TO HAVE IT BACK ON MY TV! :D
"I feel like I have been waiting for two seasons for Elena to decide that she needs to rely less on the Salvatores for protection and more on herself so YESSS FINALLY."
THIS!
Honestly, I knew Stefan would be a dickwad so it didn't bother me too much, I mean we had to expect that. What I loved were his funny stalker moments. And of course the moments where it almost seemed like his former self might be shining through a little.
Yes, Lexi is back next week. And that's not a spoiler, it's in the Canadain promo. Looks like she's going to put Stefan through quite an ordeal- can't wait!
Nah, Katherine's not dead. Draining a vampire doesn't kill them, unless Mikael kills them after. I'm kind of loving the vampire vampire hunter. Though right now it's still unclear as to whether he just hunts them for food, or if he specifically wants to kill other vampires (besides Klaus).
I'm meh on Damon showing Elena ~where a vampire's heart is, but I ADORED him messing with her while she was bench pressing. Particularly, I loved when she got frustrated and just let go of the weights, without even questioning that it wouldn't fall on her, despite the fact that he was pushing down half a second ago. I think I love the little moments like that more than the UST moments. Like that scene (in S2, I think) where she's lying on the couch, and he just walks up, lifts her feet up, and sits down and puts her feet over in his lap. I like the little stuff like that where they're just comfortable with each other without thinking about it.
-ELENA WAS SUCH A FIERCE BAMF IN THIS EPISODE. GET IT, GIRL. TBH I feel like I have been waiting for two seasons for Elena to decide that she needs to rely less on the Salvatores for protection and more on herself so YESSS FINALLY.
SO MUCH THIS. Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad that Elena is a normal human girl without any superpowers (except for super special hyprid-making blood), but you'd think that with all the danger she gets into, she would've enrolled in Alaric's vampire slaying class a long time ago.
Ha! I love Ripper-Stefan. The somewhat role reversal between Stefan and Damon is so much fun. It cracks me up that those two really buy into the whole Good Brother v. Bad Brother dichotomy. It's like they think both roles have to be filled in order for there to be balance.
Damon seemed inappropriately handsy to me in that scene where he finds Elena bench-pressing? lol I know, foreveralone.gif.Lol. *pats* Ngl, I was pretty on board with it. I do totally get where you're coming from wrt Elena being vulnerable. I

Elena has saved Damon's life so many times in this show - certainly more for than he has for her - so he sure as hell owes her a ton, 'feelings' or no. Also, if she gets the bad shit that comes hand in hand with his alleged feelings, why shouldn't she get something useful out of it? I will just be eternally eyerolling at fandom attempting to say that Elena's 'manipulations' somehow put her on even moral standing - or even claiming that her manipulations are equal to Damon's, when Damon's manipulations cannot, after all he's done, come without the contextual threat of his easy repeated violence should she refuse and Elena is vulnerable and human giving him the option of refusal - with Damon in their interactions.
I guess I don't have such a tit-for-tat view on morality? And I wasn't really talking about their relationship as a whole; Damon has obviously done worse to her than she has to him. I don't think anyone would seriously argue otherwise.
I think you took my comment to mean that I think Elena is somehow doing wrong, probably because the word 'manipulation' has a lot of negative connotations. But I'm not sitting over here in my corner hating on Elena for being so mean to woobie Damon. I was just stating a fact: Elena manipulates (often without realizing that's what she's doing) Damon's feelings for her. And Damon pushes her to acknowledge her interest in him every chance he gets.
All I was really getting at is that the current D/E dynamic works for me because they're both flirting with that line.
Anyway, I'm going to bow out now cuz I don't want to hijack Frances's journal or harsh my squee. Thanks for the discussion, though!
