There is no spoon

I had all kinds of plans for the weekend, and in the way of plans, they all went away as soon as it hit. That's okay. I can't complain about the one I had.

What I did, saw, watched, heard - as if you care )

don't i bore you?, life

I still haven't caught up on Buffy season 8. I'm probably like a years worth of issues behind. I need to get on that.

I love neko case. She has the best voice.

Neko is made of awesome and fairy cakes with a hint of bourbon...

The season 8 stuff is a mixed bag, but there is a definite feel of a season happening, storylines developing, background stuff happening. I am enjoying it.

Have you read Fun Home? I have to admit, I thought of you often whilst reading it.

Bechdel wrote a biography in graphic novel form that recounts growing up with her remote and (she finds out after his suicide while she is at college) closeted homosexual father. I don't know what your relationship with your father is or was, but I couldn't help but see parallels there that are alien to me. Plus, I always recommend Bechdel's work.

"Amazing" is definitely the word for Fun Home.

My weekend was even more unproductive. I didn't even manage to watch my Netflix DVD. Although I suppose it would look a lot more impressive if I could write down all the biology that happened...

Well, I rarely consider a weekend spent reading unproductive, but I had hoped to get some writing done at least. And I am having those internal issues concerning my resume. Ach. What to do?

Heh, that's kinda funny; I spent my weekend similarly not-how-I-planned. I wrote exactly 3 sentences and edited a paragraph of something else. Bleh. The rest was lost in nonsense and re-reading "Neverwhere".

I've been wanting to read the Buffy stuff and it looks like I may have to try and find it now, SEVERAL people have recommended it now.

I think your thoughts on movie vs book are quite valid and echo some of my own! AND hearing those voices in later books = yep, yep, yep! (*giggle* Alan fucking Rickman! Gawdz, I lurv his voice!)

Oh, yeah, and NO, ya ain't borin me yet, bebe!
:p

Alan Rickman could read the dictionary to me and I would find it exciting.

I found only yesterday that Neko Case has a new album. I don't know when I'll get it but soon.

Best Buy has it on sale. Or it did Saturday, but the price before sale was tagged as $9.99. Still a bargain for 14 lovely haunting songs.

I like the Watchmen graphic novel, but the movie fit so much better for me with the story, visually. I really really hate the colour in the graphic novel (and could go on about it for days), and in the movie it was awesome and dark and proper moody. The music and the motion and the life given to the characters was great. Oh my. Such beautiful character movement and timing, like when Rorschach jumps down the wall in the Antarctic lair...

*fans self*

I really want to see the storyboards and concept art for that movie. Too bad they never publish the really interesting bits.

That was such an awesome detail for that scene! I almost clapped during it.

You may be interested in my husband's blog about the movie in which he includes a mini interview he had with the director in 2006. The most interesting aspect are the casting changes from concept to movie:
