I really like this! It fits right where you've placed it in the Doctor Who universe. The TARDIS creates the opportunity for endless crossovers, and you've made the most of that potential. You wrote all of the characters so well, and the exchanges between Adam and the Doctor were the best part. Funny, but also poignant. Well done.

That's absolutely fantastic! I really enjoyed all of it - great Doctor, great trip, great Adam with that unexpected hint of steel - and playing god. Wonderful parallels in there, between Adam and the Doctor and the recent Who arcs. The Them are all spot-on and there are so many delicious lines - like Adam playing cowboy and 'something not at all comfortable' creeping up the Doctor's spine. Beautiful!

Oh my gods, this is perfect. From your characterizations of the thirteen-year-old Them, to Eleven's take on Them, to your narrative prose in general, everything is just beautiful.

"I can," Adam said. Not proud, not boastful, just matter of fact, with a cold thread of steel running through it. "I can and I have to. You think you're so clever but you haven't worked it out, have you? People like us need people, in case we forget we are. People, I mean. Especially because we're not. We've got to use what we can do to help us pretend that we can't."

It was the winding nonsensical logic of a child much younger than Adam was; it was the winding nonsensical logic of a mind much older and cleverer and wilier than the Doctor could ever be.

"I need them," Adam said. "I need them or I'll go mad." And the shadows in his eyes could blot out suns.

There are no words for how much I love this. Perfect Adam, and also exactly why the Doctor needs a companion. I also love the ending!

This is fantastic. The Doctor's flaws and follies really show in harsh relief next to Adam, don't they? It's funny, I think it's something they try to do on the show from time to time-- set the Doctor against a similarly powerful and knowledgeable being who's much more local and concentrated in influence than he, without his mobility or transience; but it works much better here, I feel like, than it usually does on the show. There's something about Adam, who chooses to show his youth where the Doctor likes to focus on his age, these days, it's just really effective.

Also, this is hilarious, so. And the Them are every bit as well-done as Adam and the Doctor; Adam's love for them is terrifying, yeah, but it's also just really warm and lovely.

You did my prompt perfectly, and then made it cooler by 20%.

The Doctor and Adam are so well done in this. Both of them behaving like Gods, but neither of them truly being one. And both understanding that it is all just pretend, but fun pretend. A pretend that keeps them as sane as they can be.

Methinks Adam has done this before.

Also, I love how it shows both how old Adam can be if he puts his mind to it, and how young the Doctor acts sometimes in this latest incarnation. They compliment each other really well here. They're both ageless.

Thank you for this wonderful gift :)
