I'm already tired of this job-hunting process, and I've only completely finished one application, and am working on another two. Out of all the NICUs in Birmingham (there are 6, total), there is ONE staff nurse position open. ONE. And it's a flexi schedule, which basically tells me nothing ( Read more... )

I think that sounded a little more hostile than I meant it to ...

But I don't like working with adults because they're big, heavy, sometimes rather unappreciative, really sick, they can talk back, they can be non-compliant ...

Not all adults are like that, but more often than not, they are. (But they're always big and heavy - at my current job, I can hold my patient in one hand and change its bed lines with the other.)

I guess also it's more that I really LIKE working with babies and children. They're just as sick, and with some of our babies, sometimes sicker, but ... I don't know. I think some people are just called to work with certain groups, and I really believe that I'm called to do NICU. So ... I guess that's the best explanation I have.
