Room 218, Monday Afternoon

Sep 14, 2009 14:31

Karla was in her room again, trying to decide where to hang her new paintings that she'd gotten from Sophie's gallery. Circle of Trust was probably going to hang above her desk, but she wasn't sure where to hang Stardust. The painting was amazing and would look lovely at the head of her bed, but she wouldn't be able to look at it while she was ( Read more... )

< Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarla. > Perhaps one of the best parts about being a telepath was the fact you didn't actually have to yell down the hall at people to warn them of impending doom.

Or in this case, impending bored Emma, which really amounted to the same thing.

Another moment and she was rounding the corner and flouncing into Karla's room without bothering to knock. "Entertain me, darling."

A bottle of wine and some chocolate appeared in the air in front of Emma while Karla stood on air, trying to get her painting to hang right while a hammer floated next to her. *In a minute* she sent, flashing a quick grin down at Emma around a mouth full of nails. *I will hang this blasted painting if it's the last thing I do.*

Emma made a happy sound and deftly plucked the wine and chocolate from the air before going to flop on Karla's bed. "If I was a teke, I'd help," she offered, already picking through the chocolates. "Sadly, I'm already so fabulous that the Powers That Be decided I only needed one gift."

*A teke?* Karla asked, making a frustrated huffing sound as the painting shifted crookedly. *I can't argue the fabulous, but what's a teke?*

Jack was distracted, so when he went to wander down the hall after being...invadeded, he didn't quite notice he wasn't at the right door.

"Wait a minute, they switched the numbers on my room?!" he said almost to himself, outside Karla's room.

Karla couldn't really answer him, as she was busy inside her room, trying to hang paintings.

He knocked on the door, anyways, in case they'd switched numbers on other people. "Anyone in there? Hello there in my room."

Cluefull Jack was cluefull.

Karla ducked down to peer at her door, hammer in one hand, nail in another, mouth full of several more. She couldn't really speak around them, so she settled for giving Jack an impatient look.

Dinah was done with class, and Fencing Club wasn't for a few more hours, so she wandered downstairs to Karla's room and flopped on her bed. "Hi. How're you doing?"

"Hi Dinah!" Karla said, beaming down at her. "I'd be doing better if I knew where to put this painting. Hey! I bought paintings! What do you think?"

Dinah turned to look at them, and had to say, "Preeeetty. That one looks like moons and planets seen from a space shuttle. Do you need help?" She sat up and looked around. "You could put it over your desk? I need to put up some more stuff in my room to keep the Gotham cityscape company."

"I'm going to put the other one there," Karla said, pointing at Circle of Trust. "There was another awesome painting down at the gallery. It was this really cool, fractal building. Maybe it would look good next to Gotham? Keep a kind of nifty architectural theme going? I was thinking about getting that one, too, but Sophie suggested I stick with just these two for now, so if you want it, it's up for grabs."

Karla really had paid attention to Sophie's lesson. It was just going to take some time to percolate.

She had lost them. Lost them, somewhere between the fifth and second floors. Which was why Francine was now huffing her way past Karla's room, then backing up and poking her head in the door.

"Smurfs! Freaking... tiny...blue...SMURFS! STOLE. MY. UNDERWEAR!"

Yes, somehow she managed to whisper that last word even while yelling.

Karla dropped the hammer. Fortunately, she remembered to vanish it before it could hurt anything serious, like her foot. "Wait, Smurfs? Like, the mushroom people you were telling me about? The ones who like friendship and calling things Smurfy? THEY STOLE YOUR UNDERWEAR?!"

Karla was not as skilled at keeping her voice down as Francine.

It was possible she'd have to apologize to Jack, later.

No, Jack would probably like hearing about Francine's underwear.

Oh, about the blue people. Yes, possibly.

"YES! THEY WERE NOT VERY FRIENDLY!" Francine, shhh. Wait, what if Karla thought-- "Not the ones I'm wearing! THERE WERE NO SMURFS IN MY PANTS!"

"SMURFS CAN GET INTO OUR PANTS?" Karla asked, horrified. She'd never even considered that possibility. "Why didn't you mention creepy, thieving perverts in your description?!"

As of yet unaware of any underwear theft, Merlin was being there to check in on Karla. Perhaps they could discuss ideas for this week's reserve!

"Hello!"

Karla (who had since returned back to the room after helping Francine chase after errant Smurfs) whirled around, holding up a hammer. She looked a bit wild. So did the rest of the room. Belongings were strewn everywhere. "Merlin!" she croaked. "Smurfs!"

Merlin held up his hands as if to keep from having his head bashed in. "...what?"

"There are Smurfs!" she said again, gesturing. "Little blue creatures who live in mushrooms and steal things! They got Francine! And Jack!"

...Yeah, she was really going to have to apologize to him later.
