summer is in full swing...nola spends most of her days with her dad while i'm at my sister's. we don't follow a calendar for the homeschooling so we're continuing with her 'lessons'. on a typical day they do 2-3 hours of school. they spend the rest of the day reading harry potter, watching tv or running errands. i am so, so happy that our neighbors ( Read more... ) -
homeshooling notes
today was a full work day so j did the homeschooling after he got home from class. the new science kit came in the mail today from the young scientists club. the theme for this kit is acids and bases. they worked on that and then did some math with the base ten blocks. she also had karate today...she's practicing for her orange belt test which is ( Read more... ) -
slow day
feeling tired today and that's with a two hour nap in the afternoon and a cup of coffee afterwards. i need to stop watching the news but my mind keeps going back to what happened in virginia. didn't do much work today, felt tired and distracted. fortunately classes were canceled this afternoon bec of the rain. tomorrow i'll work on my irb ( Read more... ) -
mostly hs'ing post
i'm glad we were out for most of yesterday 'cause today is a true 'inside' day. pouring. it isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow or tuesday. do they cancel classes for rain? i wish they did.
damn, we just found out that the bedroom ceilings have been leaking for who knows how long. my bed is wet. ugh. i'm sleeping with la nena on her twin bed and j ( Read more... ) -
one month to go
one more month and this anxiety will be over. sometimes i feel like i'm living ouside my skin. i'm thinking about this exam almost all of the time. i want it to be over. don't think i'll be ready but i'm going to take it anyway.

this weekend has been good. thursday nite i was up till 2 a.m. working on the consulting project for a meeting at 10 a.m. somewhere after midnite the tension that had been buidling all week broke. i decided that if needed, i'd push the exam back a few weeks. i also didn't finish the work for the consulting job but i made peace with that, too. what day is it? the holidays were quiet. i spent part of the 24th reading and then we went to j's aunt house. mmmmm. homemade macaroni and cheese....roasted turkey....we got home at ten, put la nena to bed and then j and i hung out on the couch for a few hours. we usually spend the 25th with j's mom but j had a bad cold so we stayed home. i took la ( Read more... ) -

i procastinated all day...you know when you have so much to do you just become paralyzed? that was me.
i got up, did some of the cosulting work, had a short phone conference. after i finished with that job j and i got ready to pick up la nena. we planned to go to the pet store to get ralph (our new gerbil) a bigger cage and a friend but that plan ( Read more... ) -

got up early for a 10 am meeting in the city
meeting with project coordinator about research project - left meeting with a shitload of stuff to do.
submitted my fulbright-hays proposal. what a relief!
