Services Review: Getting a V-Shaped Face with ClearSK V Face Shaper

Oct 13, 2014 20:54

Hey friends!

I've always been envious of girls with a V-shaped face. Somehow, having a V-face lifts our skin, makes us look youthful and allows our facial features to appear more defined and sharp.

Personally, I have baby fats on my face and a wide jawline. On bad days, I might even look bloated or have a double chin. As much as I am satisfied with the way I look, I acknowledge that my face can benefit from some non-invasive sculpting.

So one fine weekend, I visited ClearSK Medi-Aesthetics where I was scheduled to undergo the V Face Shaper treatment.

Just look at this place! I was marvelled at how pristine white and nicely scented this place was. It reminded me of a cross between a professional dermatologic clinic and an upmarket beauty salon.

On my first session, I had to wait for a while because the treatment rooms were already occupied by other users. However, the staff was very hospitable and they prepared tea as well as a warm towel for me.

There were some healthy snacks (I meant the oatmeal biscuits and the plain crackers) in case customers wanted something to munch on while waiting. Interestingly, they even had ClearSK sweets.

Received my ClearSK vouchers which entitled me to 4 sessions of the V Face Shaper treatment.

The handwritten note totally puts a smile on my face. The ClearSK team really provides a personal touch that any customer will be appreciative of.

This is the machine that was used during my V Face Shaper treatment. Specifically, it uses ultrasound waves and unipolar radiofrequency (RF) to break down adipose cells and remove fatty waste from the face.

It may sound technical and scary but trust me, it is non-invasive and very safe!

Lying on a comfy bed waiting for the treatment to commence. Actually, I looked more like I was lying on a hospital bed waiting for surgery instead.

Prior to the treatment, I addressed my concerns with the therapist.

Firstly, I was afraid that I would obtain an extremely V-face that might elongate my already long face. The therapist assured me that this wouldn't happen as the treatment's V-shaping effects are milder than I expected and it also requires more than one session to obtain more obvious and lasting effects. Thus, I need not worry about looking as though I just did plastic surgery at my jawline.

Secondly, I informed that I have sensitive cheeks and I didn't want to walk out of the centre looking like a monkey's butt. The therapist was very attentive to my needs and told me that she would ensure that very mild and tolerable heat is used during the treament in order not to aggravate my sensitive cheeks.

The first thing that the staff did was to cleanse my face.

Paraffin gel was then applied under my chin, along my jawline and the lower part of my face to enable the ultrasound waves to evenly penetrate my skin.

The above device was used to transmit ultrasound waves into my skin, particularly at the lower part of my face where my fatty tissues are located.

The ultrasound waves will then selectively shear off fat layers and break up fat cells without damaging the other tissue types around it.

When the device was working its way gently around my face, I felt a mild warmth which was surprisingly comfortable. Then again, the therapist did promised to use mild heat in view of my sensitive skin so my experience might differ from the rest who have used a higher heat level.

After that, the therapist cleansed my face from the paraffin gel and applied baby oil over my skin in preparation for the Radiofrequency (RF) Unilage mode.

The above device makes use of RF technology to generate alternating electromagnetic fields and heat the tissues that are within the dermis of our skin. This helps to lift our skin and provide firmness as well as collagen formation.

Interestingly, this device reminded me of a Clarisonic Cleansing Brush because its head would actually rotate when it was placed against my skin. Unlike the ultrasound device which produces a warm sensation, this device actually alternates between cold and warm.

As this RF device was used across my entire face and had a slightly higher heat level, it did made my cheeks slightly red but definitely not as bad as a monkey's butt. I just appeared as though I applied a tinge of blush on my cheeks.

Post-RF, my face was cleansed from the baby oil.

Verdict?

Overall, I think the effects of this treatment surprised me. I knew that a non-invasive treatment like this wouldn't give me a post-plastic surgery V-face. Then again, I'm not interested to have that sort of V-face because that would be too much and I would probably look horrible.

I did noticed a slight V and a subtle uplifted effect around my jawline. I think that's nice because I didn't want to look too 'overdone' but that's just me. If you prefer a very obvious uplifted effect, this treatment might not be suitable for you.

What I noticed more obviously was that my skin felt firm to the touch; my cheekbones were more defined and my skin was more rejuvenated. I looked less tired in recent photos even after a long day.

The last part of the session involved me resting on the bed with a cooling sheet mask on my face for around 10 minutes, followed by the application of lotion, moisturizer and sun screen before the end of the session.

(And yes, all ladies look like ghosts with flattened noses when they are wearing a sheet mask.)

In all, it was a very comfortable experience. I could really just sleep through my sessions and be pampered at the same time.

I was also pleased to observe some results after my 1st session. As for the subsequent weekly sessions, I didn't feel that it made my jawline any more narrower than the 1st session but it did helped to maintain that uplifted look and the brightened skin tone.

After the entire session:

Each session lasts for approximately 30 minutes (20 minutes on the treatment and 10 minutes on the mask) and it costs $220/session.

The recommended number of sessions varies from one individual to another. I guessed it depends on the amount of facial fat one has and how much fat the customer wants to lose from the face.

So far, I am happy with the results so many thanks to ClearSK Aesthetics for pampering me. I have one more session to go this week and I'm looking forward to it! :)
