Food Invite: Fuss-free Seafood On-The-Go at Catch 'N Bite @ Westgate

Oct 14, 2014 22:12

Hey friends!

If you're a seafood lover who is looking for some munchies to eat conveniently on the go, let me introduce you to this takeaway stall called Catch 'N Bite @ Westgate.

The birth of this stall so happened because the owners were inspired to share some of the delicious seafood dishes they have tried on their fishing trips, particularly those from the United States. Besides, the owners also wanted to introduce a fuss-free and convenient way of enjoying seafood on the go without burning a hole in the pocket.

What can I say? Novelty and affordability are always great for the consumers. Did I also mention that the food is halal-certified? :)

In this stall, you can try some of the signature seafood sandwiches and sides such as calamari rings and crispy fish.

They serve an assortment of tarts as well. It costs $2.50 if you purchase it individually. You can also buy in bulk up to 16 pcs in each box.

My friend, QQ and I decided to try their signature sandwiches, their clam soup, calamari rings and tarts.

Catch 'N Bite is famous for their Crunchin' Crab Sandwich ($8.90). It actually has an entire softshell crab wedged between the 2 pieces of bread.

QQ commented that it was yummy and eating this sandwich alone was suffice to fill her stomach. I agree totally - for small eaters, you would find this sandwich very filling.

As I was allergic to softshell crab, I had to go for the next best alternative so I went for the Ultimate Lobster Sandwich ($12.90).

In terms of presentation, it reminded me of my favourite egg mayo subway sandwich but I knew that this sandwich was more exotic because it was made up of a mixture of Maine Lobster, egg and corn. The taste was very flavourful and I couldn't stop singing praises of this to QQ.

Tried the Clam Soup ($4.90) as well and it was SO GOOD that I was all ready to consume it all even though I was already quite full from the sandwich.

The Clam Soup was made from real lobster stock and it was not flavoured with MSG. I love the fact that the soup was full of yummilious ingredients, many of which were my favourites. This soup would taste even better if the pepper was toned down because it could get a little peppery after a while. In all, I highly recommend pairing this soup with your sandwich.

If you would like a taste of Catch 'N Bite but prefer not to indulge in a sandwich, you can always try their tarts. It felt like eating sushi ingredients in a tart, if you get what I mean.

QQ and I picked the Lobster Ebiko tart ($2.50) and the Smoked Salmon Sour Cream tart ($2.50). I'm personally not a fan of the Smoked Salmon Sour Cream tart because I realized that I didn't like the combination of sour + raw, but that's just me. I prefer the Lobster Ebiko tart because the filling was the same as my Ultimate Lobster sandwich and you just couldn't go wrong with Ebiko.

Also tried Crispy Calamari ($5.90) which I guessed was similar to the other calamari rings I've eaten. I'm glad that this wasn't too oily and overall, this side would make a great snack. I was very full though so I could only munch on a few pieces.
