Event: A Foody Night with Intel Singapore @ PasarBella

Oct 05, 2014 23:45

Hey friends!

Few days ago, I was at The Grandstand's PasarBella not for personal training at Kinetika Xtreme but for an event by Intel Singapore.

I love the bag that the team gave us because it looked perfect for grocery shopping. And yes, that's my blog name on my pass and a bottle of blood orange to quench my thirst.

We were introduced to Intel's core processors which are based on a 64-bit architecture. What this means is that they can compute larger data and manage more processes compared to a 34-bit processor.

Now you may ask, what exactly is a core?

A core is part of a processor which processes instructions for a gadget. Many of the games that we play on our computer/tablet depend on 2 or 4 cores. The Intel Atom Processor Z3480 has 2 cores and it is designed in a way that enable the cores to work together effectively.

Some examples of the gadgets that use Intel processors.

We all want our gadgets to work fast, efficiently and smoothly. We might even think that having more cores will enable our gadget to work better. But that need not be the case.

Intel uses a technique called the Hyper-Threading Technology that allows their processors to make good use of the cores that they have. Intel processors can switch between optimizing for power or energy efficiency, thus reducing power consumption and prolonging battery life. As such, despite having 2 cores, Intel processors do not lose out and have even been proven to work better than the processors with more cores.

After Intel's presentation, we were invited to participate in a food hunt around PasarBella so there I was collecting oysters from a stall after answering a question about Intel processors.

Although I would prefer to just dig in to my food, having an interactive food hunt was pretty fun. It also made me realize how clueless I am with directions considering that I could still get lost in PasarBella despite visiting the place regularly for the past 3 months.

Collected a savoury pie from this stall. The other pies looked extremely tempting.

Collected a pomegranate cake from this stall. I've never eaten a pomegranate cake before!

Each time we approach a stall (featured in the pictures on the board), we had to answer a question about Intel processors before collecting our food and a letter.

The first 3 groups that completed the letters on the board would win. Unfortunately, I think my group came in last? HA HA. Oh well, we were still happy to complete the food hunt because we couldn't wait to just dig in to dinner.

Food! Glorious food!

It was my first time trying food from PasarBella and I liked most of what I've eaten except the cheese platter. I just can't appreciate exotic cheese so I guess I should stick to Chesdale.

Thank you Intel Singapore for the Intel + PasarBella souvenirs.

My group also received $20 PasarBella vouchers each for participating in the food hunt so... shopping time! :)

This Intel thumbdrive was DA BOMB. It looked so cute and innovative that I just couldn't get enough of it. This will definitely be a perk-me-up at work.

All right, I'm off to bed as it's late. Goodnight everyone and let's enjoy our long weekend to the fullest. :)
