Momma cat has moved her brood to new living quarters. Last evening she carried them into the staff entry room, which is just off the kitchen and is where many of the staff sit all day. We have the Shitpuppies here. No, I did not name them. They are brother and sister pups who a few of us here have adopted. They get our leftovers. I water them. Some of us scritch them. They have flea collars. Some of the Iraqi guards really don't get it and try to warn me off toucing the filthy animals but, I miss my dog Kobe and I can't not be nice to the Shitpuppies.

It gets worse. I'm currently in the building working but I'm not supposed to be because President Bush declared today a federal day or mourning for the passing of President Reagan so all Feds are supposed to be at home sitting shiv'a or something. Luckily I'm a self-employed contractor (like all the other people in my office building) and thus technically NOT a Fed so we're here working getting a surprising amount done. Well not so surprising when you consider we're not being called into endless meetings where we attempt to explain the concept of data-modeling to people still mourning the demise of slide-rules.
