I am so happy I was wrong! Larry was able to call me today.

The call came around 3:30 this morning but I didn't care.

Larry got to Camp Ali Al Salem last night and did his in-processing there. Lots of briefings (Good, you got here. It is dangerous here so …be careful.) and got issued his body armor. He says it is heavy and pretty cool looking. I ( Read more... )

 
Well, Larry made his plane. We were wondering there for a moment if he would. Sunday morning was a whirlwind of packing, searching for lost items and lots of "Do you think I should bring…?"  There really must be a learning curve for deployment, so I know we will be better prepared the next time.

So, having nothing better to do…(well, that's not true. I had lots of other things I could have been doing. Laundry, dishes, vacuuming…you gets the picture)  … I was channel surfing the day time TV. We get this one channel called "Chill" it's an all horror /suspense network. Why you need an all horror network is a little beyond me, but I digress. ( Read more... )

About a week after we got back from CA and the funaral for Larry's Dad, we had the car in the shop for the transmission.  The dealership (God bless their little pea pickin hearts) held the car for a week and finally got around to diagnosing the problem - "The transmission is broke."  Um, yeah, thanks we figured ( Read more... )

 What a long coupla weeks.

We spent the time out in CA with my husband's family saying good-bye to his father.  The Sisters in Law arranged a beautiful service for Larry Sr. They even have arranged that his ashes will be scattered at sea off the cost of Hawaii.  Larry Sr always talked about his time out there in the Navy. I figured I would be blogging something about taxes, like the other million people would. I might say something about how nice it is to get a little return, or complain about how stupidly complicated our taxes system is.  Instead I have to write an eulogy for my Father in Law.

We had a very nice Easter. We visited a new congregation up on the north side of Atlanta: Embry Hills.  It is one of the biggest congregations we have worshipped with. Sunday morning was over 300 people in the pews.  They seem like a nice group of folks and I think we will be going back this Sunday.
