Oh how I love this. I love parenthetical asides a lot anyhow, and these were just fantastic. All the things unsaid, either because they don't want them to be true, or can't admit them no matter how much they want to. All those traitorous thoughts that they can't help but think, but won't let themselves say. Each one was like a tiny glimpse into their true selves, and I looked forward to each and every one.
