100 Things #2: Alices Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass

I've kind of always wanted to read these books. I remember not really caring for the Disney animated version of Alice in Wonderland, but the story still stuck with me. Or perhaps the premise of the story? I mean, what kid doesn't imagine exploring some crazy world where you can talk to caterpillars and eating cake makes you shrink. Or was it grow ( Read more... )

We had to read Alice in Wonderland in my 9th grade English class, but unfortunately had one of those teachers who made us analyze the heck out of it so I didn't enjoy it much /-: Maybe now that it's been about a decade I should re-read it.

I had many a book almost ruined for me in that fashion. I like to read and draw my own interpretations as opposed to being force fed what I'm *supposed* to see.

Exactly. I think most people who create art (include novels) appreciate diverse interpretations of it anyway!

Woo, comment almost two months later. The story in any movie version of Alice in Wonderland is not the 'story' you'll find in the books. They're just a rambling bit of crazy person ramblings. I actually kind of hated them but some people like the style they're written in.
