As some of you know, I have recently fallen head-first into gleeful fannishness for the new Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime. (I am reading my way slowly through, and adoring, the manga it's based on. The old anime I have seen only a couple of episodes of, and that years ago. I'll probably get around to it someday, but from what I've heard ( Read more... )

It's a delightful word, isn't it? Homunculi might be even more fun. I waffle on that one.

(In this anime there are seven of them, they're the underlying antagonists, and several of them spend a great deal of time sitting around silently laughing at everybody. It's strangely hilarious!)

Hulu does! And funimation.com has it streaming too, in case Hulu doesn't work or in case you get caught up to the currently airing episodes. It's ongoing, with new episodes coming out once a week (every Sunday in Japan, every Thursday in the English subtitles), and Hulu's a couple of weeks behind.

So, uh, obviously I support this new method of procrastination. *cheerful*

This is hilarious and kind of perfect.

I saw... I guess about half of the original FMA? I liked certain things about it a lot -- Al = so heartbreaking! And HAWKEYE, I love her! -- but just didn't fully get into it. My boyfriend watched it all, though.

We missed the first episode of Brotherhood (on Cartoon Network) last week, but I caught it when it was rerun. Having never read the manga, I'm curious as to how much it differs.

Brotherhood and the manga are very very alike -- the series is basically following the manga straight. So it condenses some things, but I haven't come across any really significant changes.

The first anime, on the other hand, diverges WILDLY on any number of major plot points. I gather it handles some characters somewhat differently even aside from that, too, but I haven't seen it to be sure.

Obviously I am way behind on FMA:B! (Current on the manga, but I think it must have fewer dead puppies.)

I *heart* this to pieces. Can I link?

Absolutely, and I'm flattered!

I can actually only think of three dead puppies offhand, and one of them's a bit of a stretch, but it seemed the kind of thing one ought to include on bingo. *grin*

Without question. I have clearly forgotten very significant things about the early going!
