Yesterday, erastes and I were talking, and, since the release date was all over LJ, we started making incredibly obvious predictions about what will happen in Book 7. These are mine:
All of the Horcruxes will be hidden in England, despite the fact that hiding one in Antarctica would have been a really really good idea. This actually seems reasonable, assuming that Dumbledore was right about all of Voldie's personal psychosis and idiosyncrasies.
Harry will have no trouble detecting, finding or destroying Horcruxes, although to date there seems to be no information available about any of the above. Sad, but probably true.
Luna and Neville will be all but ignored and their potential forgotten. LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
Even though he's dead, Dumbledore will show up in some form and dispense purportedly wise advice. His portrait, if there's any sense of logic and continuity. I know if *I* were Harry, I'd be grilling the damn painting for all the information Dumbledore didn't tell him in life. Preferably when armed with a can of turpentine, in case he needed persuading.
Peter will be cowardly. Peter will save Harry by accident, and not because of a conscious choice to finally do the right thing.I will forgive JKR

Logic and continuity? In THIS series? But yeah, it probably will be his portrait. We already know that exists.

Heh. I like the way you think! Though I'm pretty sure that Portrait!Dumbledore will be just as cryptic and uncommunicative as the live version, sadly.
I will forgive JKR all past indiscretions and love her to little bitty pieces if she has Peter somehow be instrumental in offing Voldemort, or if he somehow does it himself. Just as a sort of "screw you" to the prophecy that she claims has no real power.I agree in SPADES. And that's what I want to happen in this book more than anything. But I don't think it will happen, because I don't believe she likes Peter as a character. As we've been told since PoA, he's a coward...and in the Potterverse, that's the worst of all

I don't think it will happen, because I don't believe she likes Peter as a character. ... The fact that she generally refers to him both in narration and in interviews as Wormtail (and occasionally as Pettigrew), rather than as Peter, seems telling to me. I just hope she pays off the hints from PoA about how there's some kind of connection between Harry and Peter. I doubt the book will fully live up to hopes and expectations, but it'd be pretty hard to live up to the hype anyway. As long as she doesn't totally ignore Peter and Neville, I'll be happy. Or at least partially happy.

Oh, me too. Me too.
I hope that Neville has to participate in destroying Voldemort, since Trelawney's prophecy initially could have applied to Harry or Neville. (And I think that having your parents driven insane by an agent of the Dark Lord counts as being marked.)
