I truly wish fans would STOP trying to drag the actors into the fannish world. There's a lot of fanfic out there that I find distasteful (and that's MY opinion) and there's a lot of fanfic out there that is awesome. Slash, Gen, Het, Femslash - doesn't matter, all factions of a fandom have both fanfic that make people cringe and fanfic that make people squee. HOWEVER, to bring ANY fanfic, slash, gen, het, or femslash to the attention of the actors of a particular fandom is, to me, what crosses the line. If they go out searching for it, that's one thing, but there are a truly ridiculous number of fans that send links to the actors, PRINT the fanfic out and drag it to conventions to GIVE to the actors, ask pointed and absolutely cringe worthy questions regarding fanfic to the actors at said conventions, and all of those things are what crosses the line (and for the most part, I think that is what fans mean when they use the term "crossing the line" - it's not about being homophobic AT ALL ( ... )

About the "colleagues were depicted"-comment: If it isn't RPF the fiction (in my opinion) isn't really about the real live persons but about the characters they play.
I don't like abuse/rape fics either but why did they especially search for these type of fics? I don't like these things so I don't read it.

Perhaps someone can explain it to me but I never understood this twitter-debate about their outrage about some fics when some of them like tv shows with lots of violence and rape in it? That's okay because it's not about the characters they play? For example: Eoin likes Game of Thrones (has violence and rape), Colin likes at least the first series of True Blood (what in my opinion comes across like some very very bad written
PWP-fanfiction, also with lots of violence and rape) so that's different?
If someone understand this differently or has some insight for me - please write, I'm curious what you think.
