Merlin S5 | Cast on slash fic + Cast tweets [no spoilers] + No 'Merlin' at Kapow? + 'Fast Girls'

DigitalSpy Forum: User lil_miss_blonde (who's believed to somehow be involved in making the show because they've confirmed spoilers/speculation during S4 and were right, they continued to confirm S5 speculation/spoilers since filming started again), now became involved in a DS Forums discussion about the views of TPTB/Cast/Crew on fanfiction (Arthur/Merlin bromance in particular). No idea how reliable their claim of knowing the cast/Eoin quite well is (thus better take it with a grain of salt) but here's what they said:
[click to read]MikeAP001: With all due respect Miss B, the fans might be allowed their opinion but there are boundaries fans shouldn't cross, IMO. The Bromance bit is one. As for my noting that some cast and crew found it offensive, that was based on that's what @eoincmacken and @alicetroughton tweeted, twitted, touted or whatever term's used now to someone calling herself AliceMerlin, objecting to some of the violent and humiliating ways some of "her colleagues" were being depicted which she says left her speechless when @alicetroughton showed her. And while they didn't find any of the gay depictions offensive, her views were different from @eoincmacken who found "some of the homoerotic fanfiction was really offensive." lil_miss_blonde: I don't think it was the bromance fics/photos that offended them.. More the rape/abuse/kink fics. I believe it was one or two fics in particular that were the catalyst for the twitter debate. Like me and others have said the cast/crew don't find the bromance stuff offensive, its the terrible things that like you said the fans just cross the line with. Im not disagreeing with you just pointing out its the more the serious things that bother them not the simple Arthur/Merlin slash. I know them all very well, especially Eoin and know he and the others find the simple bromance fics funny, Along with all the other harmless fics that pair them all up randomly.
@aliceisafan @eoincmacken #JustPromiseMe there'll be a series 6 of Merlin...or a Percival & Gwaine spin off!
@eoincmacken @aliceisafan probably myself&lads will do road trip docs in our knights gear&pretend to be knights forever#neverletitgo #sad @tomhopperhops
I'd totally watch that, it'd be like The Real Arthur & Merlin in costumes and with Eoin and Tom goofing around. :D

@KapowCon Hot TV panel moving to Sunday 20 due to filming schedules...announcement coming tomorrow!!
[No Merlin at Kapow?]Although they hadn't yet revealed which TV show'd make a Kapow appearance the 'Hot TV' panel'd been scheduled for May 19 and there was slight hope it could be a Merlin panel. The panel's now been re-scheduled for May 20, the day of the Soccer Six tournament.
Since it's 'due to filming schedules' it's very likely not Merlin anyway (they usually don't film on weekends, Doctor Who f.e. does) and due to the date swap neither Bradley nor the Knights (or the S5 star who's going to play Soccer Six for #TeamMerlin)'d be able to attend.
Looks like there'll be no Merlin panel at Kapow this year (neither at London Expo later this month). Now it'll be really interesting if they're going to attend SDCC in July.
