I thought some of you might like to see some of the spring flowers we get in our local bushland.  Mods, if this isn't OK, please let me know and I'll take it down.

One of the things I love about Australian bush is how understated it is.  There's a lot of muted greens and browns, and maybe because of that, the wildflowers in spring are generally ( Read more... )

Always love seeing the plants in your area of the world. We use a lot of them here in Southern California. Kangaroo paws seem to be all over.

Yes, we share a similar climate, don't we? I imagine I'd find it a little surreal to travel there and see kangaroo paws everywhere :)

I lived in Southern California for a while, near the UC-Riverside botanical gardens. These photos really take me back. Thanks for posting them!

Wonderful. And believe me, those of us in the Northern Hemisphere LOVE IT when the Southern Hemisphere folks share their spring and summer photos. We'll be buried in snow soon and we can use some pictures of life in the garden (and beyond.)

Thank you - it's one of the great benefits of being on an international forum, isn't it? Spring is just great here, before we get blasted with four months of disgusting summer heat! I sometimes wish we could swap a bit in January or February, when you're freezing and we're boiling!

Wow, those orchids are beautiful! Their color is so intense and saturated that they stand out against the muted grays and browns like a 3-D picture! Amazing!

They really are so bright, and so tiny too! We've had more winter rains this year compared to previous, so we're getting a good display of flowers.

Loved the photos! What I really like to see when I travel (rarely) is the indigenous plant life. Very different from mid-Atlantic US. Thanks for the mini-trip!
