Brand new gardener with a zucchini plant question...

Hi, all! I've had this community on my friends list for years, but I've never had a garden until now. I just have a quick question about my "Midnight Lightning" zucchini plant. My experience I've grown Zucchini in clay pots and they do just fine. That size seems right and then it will grow fruit from the middle.

There's a yellow flower that's about to open up down there, and a whole bunch of buds around it. I'm so stoked! I just didn't want the plant to fall over since it's leaning to the right.

How big of pots do you use?

Its about 20 inches across the top. Zukes are typically always a success if not an excess. Once you get tired of them you can start picking the flowers, stuff them with cream cheese, roll in an egg wash, roll in panko crumbs and pan fry or oven roast. Seriously wonderful!

I've never seen a squash or zucchini that didn't grow big like that.

Zucchini does not need a trellis. You're good.

Welcome to the world of zucchini. :D They grow a little bit of a stalk which is why it's leaning, but the new leaves will grow upwards as the old ones die off. Keep the old dead leaves cleaned up and thrown elsewhere to hopefully reduce the number of squash bugs.
