Brand new gardener with a zucchini plant question...

Hi, all! I've had this community on my friends list for years, but I've never had a garden until now. I just have a quick question about my "Midnight Lightning" zucchini plant. Zucchini are probably my favorite garden plants even though they aren't my favorite vegetables. They grow *so* big and are a pleasure to look at and they produce, produce, PRODUCE! OH MY GOD ZUCCHINI THE SIZE OF A BASEBALL BAT BECAUSE I FORGOT TO PICK IT YESTERDAY!!!

I LOVE zucchini, so having too much would be a good problem for me to have!

My husband and I refer to them as Ninja Zucchini.

day 1: oh, look, a teeny zucchini!
day 3: hmm, it's about six inches, I'll let it go a bit more so I can make a pizza crust out of it
day 5: WTF, THAT THING WON'T FIT IN MY HOUSE!

LOL. I'm going to use that term from now on! Thanks!

Day 1: Oh, no zucchini...
Day 2: WTF how am I going to eat all that?!

If you end up with more than you want, they make great chips... slice, season & put in a dehydrator... healthy road trip snacks! (Well that's what we usually make them for!)

When I'm feeling overly nervous about a possible zucchini breakage, I just tie it up, gently. Just a small stake next to it, and some cotton twine around the plant and stake, very loose and just for support a bit, not at all tight or trying to actually hold it upright.

But that is one fine looking zucchini right there, and doesn't look in danger of breaking off at all. I'm jealous, I have 1 teeeeeny tiny sprout you can barely see, I won't be harvesting for a good 6 weeks still.
