To reiterate, but also to elaborate upon: this has been the best Christmas ever.

Dinner was amazing (my mom is a better cook than yours--thrice-cooked duck with roast potatoes and then persimmon pudding with pear sauce for dessert, bitches), and then we watched It's a Wonderful Life, which, oddly enough, I had never seen before. Very charming. Jimmy ( Read more... )

Man, I use to adore Pokemon, but then they started coming out with more and more new Pokemon, and I forgot which ones were which, and then they took Misty out, and I abandoned it. Oh Pokemon, how I miss you. *siiiigh*

Are you talking about the show, or the games? Because the games are harder to get frustrated by. Well, okay, possibly in terms of gameplay, but not in terms of story. Unless you are frustrated by repetition. But if you don't like repetition you really have no business playing Pokemon anyway.

The show. I actually didn't know the game existed until today, which is probably no suprise since I've never played a video game before. xP

...uh.

Yeah, see, okay, you need to hunt down a used game store and nab yourself a GameBoy Color and Pokemon Red or Blue and discover a whole new side of the universe. Or you could skip straight to the new ones, but they are rather more expensive (if rather easier to find).

and she belongs to a knitting group on the Internets so apparently someone there had been passing the link around.)

!!! I'm, ya know, an *adult* and I'd FREAK OUT if I thought there was even a vague possibility of my mum reading some of the stuff I read:O

Fortunately, my mom is awesome. She was a classic Trek fan back when it was actually on its first airing--she certainly knows what fandom is, though she doesn't particularly participate in it. And, well, classic Trek, so she knows what slash is, too. :P (Admittedly, I did have to provide a few more details a while back.) I suspect she would be completely okay with gen (which is what the Pushing Daisies ficlet was), though she probably wouldn't be so big on...not-gen, which is why presumably she has the sense to not go browsing through the Yuletide archives.

Huh - I didn't know about that at all! Thank you :)

(To be fair, I've been in fic-writing fandom for, what, eight months? So this is my first Christmas as a writer ... ;)

Oh, same here. But I've been in fic-reading fandom for...gosh, who knows how long...enough to know about Yuletide, anyway. One picks these things up after a while. It is not dissimilar to osmosis.

I happen to know what picture you mean because I was eyeing that calendar in the store, so here you go!

And WHOO, the DS is a wonderful thing. ♥ I love my battered, not-Lite one to death. I have Pokemon Pearl, too, and I really need to play more of it. I have this obsession with keeping all of my Pokemon's levels equal and it makes things go very, very slow, so I need to get over it. XD

Ooooh, shiny picture! *gazes at it longingly at wonders just what the hell the producers were thinking, anyway*

God, you've got the equal-levels thing too? Admittedly, that only applies in my mind to the Pokemon I carry with me, not the ones in the PC--but I hardly ever have more than a few in the PC anyway. I have never and probably will never Catch Them All; I only go for the ones I think I'll actually use.
