Just a reminder, this day 108 years ago, the Wright brothers took their most famous series of flights. The first heavier than air, powered and controlled aircraft took off today.

As of Monday, 18Oct 2010, I am a commercial pilot, airplane multi-engine land, instrument rated.

Eh, it may not mean much, but it means a lot to me. ^.^

There's something awesome about knowing that you can fly an airplane into a cloud a dozen feet off the runway, and pop out the other side of that cloud 500' above your destination airport, configured for landing, and do everything in between with a minimum of fuss, with no instructor or safety net.

Truly an awesome feeling.

So there I was... My chief pilot was covering dispatch for about an hour. Because the ability to create and print flight manifests is via a computer program, and the process is apparently known only to dispatchers, we had a bit of a problem...and I was to fly in 5 minutes. I'm not sure this is such a great idea, as they will need to restrict huge swaths of public airspace for this thing, as well as the obvious 4th Amendment issues.
Does anyone know what the AOPA, FAA or ACLU have to say about this?

Hey everyone! Long time lurker, occasional poster here.

Just a quick and potentially daft question about ground school;
I'm getting ready to start my ground schooling, but I've recently been told that if I were to fail my ground schooling, that I wouldn't be able to take it again here in Canada.

So my question is, is there any veracity to this

Today is, of course, the 106th anniversary of the famous flights of the Wright brothers at Kitty Hawk, NC. Marking the first of controlled, powered, heavier-than-air air craft. I saw this a few weeks ago and decided to wait until today to post it.
