I have a question brought forth by my girl. She was thinking one day and said, "I wonder if maybe you have more testosterone or something in your system than say, I do" And, that got me thinking about that. Does anyone know of any research about that? Or, has anyone else thought about that that trans people's hormone levels may be different than ( Read more... )

I know that when I went to my gyno apt. beacuse my mother thought I may have polysystic ovarian syndrome (or however you spell it). The tests returned that I had more T in my system than I should be quite a bit and that's why my rag was so off... I think it's a distynct posobility that it is an imbalnce in hormones...

That definitely makes sense. But then, my sister has that same thing and is the girliest girl there ever was. I'll bet it's a lot of things, but I wouldn't doubt that is one factor. Very interesting.

I think you're right about the inutero thing, I think that has a lot more to do with it than levels now, also wouldn't be surprised if levels now were different though as well.

It's a very interesting thing, how babies develop I wish we knew more about it.

Also, your icon is awesome.

Haha hon, you'll get to learn more then you'll ever want to know about the development of babies when i'm in nursing school. LOL :-)

But anyway, It'd be really interesting to know what your levels were/are as you grow, from a baby inutero to now, and how they compare with say.. mine or something. Hehe.

Love,
Kate

That would be very interesting to see, from birth to 20 or something. Although, it would be a little hit or miss in finding someone who ends up to be trans. :) thanks for the reply

I have asked this many times, and the answer came back that ftms don't typically have more testosterone than other females. The reason I say this is because a lot of ftms tried to use their more testosterone in their system to say that they are ftm, but there are a lot of feminie women out there with higher levels of testosterone, compare to the average women. Now majority of them, see this through enlargened clits, facial hair growth and so forth. But to say that maybe our reason for being transgendered is because of possible high levels of testosterone, you can't really hit the hammer on the nail and get a precise yes to that. Cause there are always exceptions to a rule; the rule being that ftms have more testosterone ( ... )

Right, I guess it can't be a precise answer because there always are exceptions, even my sister being one of them. But, it would be interesting to at least study.

Also, did you mean ring finger and index finger? And if you did, my index finger is way longer, but I'm not sure how that fits into the study so I'll shut up now. Thanks for the input though!

Males ring fingers (measured crease to tip) are generally much longer than their index fingers. Female bodied people with high levels of testosterone are also supposed to have longer ring fingers.

Not entirely on subject, but this was just posted in another community on my friend's list and mentioned some things about the index/ring finger length too.
