Sylar had been worried about going back and seeing her, especially after the way their last…session, you could call it, had ended. The fact that she didn’t know whether or not she wanted to remember everything they had had together was still weighing heavily on his mind. A few years back he wouldn’t have cared, not really. He would have told her ( Read more... )

Claire had never felt so torn in her life. It was like having two different people inside of her, tearing her apart and leaving her confused. There was a tiny voice in her that wanted to go back home and another that was scared to. She didn't know what had changed her so much that she would accept Sylar killing or the fact that Molly was involved. What had happened to her over the last few years?

Was it as simple as being in love and having a family? Could you forgive a lot more then?

She was deep in thought, in the kitchen, when she heard Sylar calling out. She blinked, glancing up from the stove where she was stirring some chocolate on low heat. "Sylar?" She called out even though she knew it was him. "We're in the kitchen." Well, she was the only one awake since Noah was curled up in his play pen at the east side of the kitchen. She liked to keep an eye on him.

"It's definitely going to be interesting." She smiled over at him, still not sure how she was going to handle it all. Yes, she was a mother to one child but she really didn't remember any of it. So she was wondering what kind of parent she was. She had heard she was a good mother but there was a difference between being told and actually knowing plus there was a confidence to knowing. She chuckled softly at the comment about the marching band. "You know, I was wondering where he was getting that from because I tend to wake up very quickly."

"Yes." Claire sighed softly, rubbing her side as she looked at her belly and then looked up into the brilliance of his smile. It was a touch surprising to her and then she was touched by his pride at the fact that the baby was kicking. He believed it was in response to him being there.

As he put his hand to her belly, Claire covered his hand with her own and moved it down just a bit. As soon as she did, he got a full on kick from the baby that made Claire smile with a slight wince.

"Mhm, it is. Especially since her and Noah will be closer in age. I'm going to tell Noah to threaten all the boys to stay away from her when they get to high school, and I don't want to hear a word of protest from you," he told her, giving her a pointed look, though the sides of his mouth were trying to twitch into a smile. "Mhm yes, he got that from me, so this one will probably be just like you. I remember, one time when we were on vacation I was tired from something, and you let me sleep in, but then freaked out because I slept for seventeen hours straight almost, the only time I got up was to go pee at one point, and then I went back to bed. You thought there was something wrong with me ( ... )

Claire lifted her brows at him, giving him an amused look. "I won't say anything right now but we'll see when she gets older." She wasn't at all surprised b y the idea that he would tell Noah to threaten any boys that might like his sister. Sylar definitely seemed the protective type over things or people he actually cared about.

As he told her about the time that she got worried about the fact that he had slept seventeen hours. "Well, no wonder! I don't think I've ever slept that long, not even with being pregnant." She shook her head at him. "Why were you so tired?"

There she was, charmed by the happy murmur and the look of joy on his face as he felt the baby kick again. "I'm fine." She assured him, slipping forward a little without really noticing what he was doing. It didn't freak her out obviously. "I don't know." She gave a quiet pause, thinking. "For some reason I was drawn to the name Virginia." She shrugged, not really knowing.

"When she gets older it's just going to get worse!" Sylar exclaimed, eyes wide. "If she looks anything like you, she'll have boys all over her, and since obviously I won't be able to be there, I need to have a spy," he concluded with a firm nod, pressing his lips together before he started to laugh. "Hopefully she'll just know better, by then, that it's best to avoid doing things that might potentially give her father a heart attack ( ... )

Claire almost blushed when he made the comment about their daughter looking like her and then she had to laugh. "You mean she should avoid getting married to the bad boy?" She teased him a little bit, finding it easy to fall into that sort of routine with him. "But I'm sure she'll be a smart girl." She nodded.

She rolled her eyes at him. "Obviously. I like sleep too but I don't get that much between these two." She motioned between her belly and to Noah who was sleeping in the playpen.

When he looked startled at her, she blinked at him before suddenly she was pulled into his arms and kissed again. Was it just his imagination or did she kiss him back? "Oh." Well, that made sense now. "I like the name Virginia, so I suppose it's fitting. What about middle names? Did we discuss any?"

"Yes! Exactly!" Sylar said with a firm nod, almost wanting to cross his arms and pout at the way she said the comment, though he knew perfectly well that she was teasing him. "And don't give me that look. I wasn't a bad boy in high school. That, er, came later," he laughed, biting his lower lip briefly before he managed to tear his gaze from her and onto her stomach again. "I'm sure she will too ( ... )

She caught the almost pout and again she had to giggle softly before arching a brow as he quickly tried to explain that he hadn't always been the bad boy. She arched one brow at him, still smirking as she wanted to see him explain himself even if she knew the answer. "Uh huh." She smirked at the fact that his being bad had come later...and boy, did it.

"Really?" She lifted her brows at him, surprised by him once more. "Are you hands on then?" She glanced over at Noah as she caught signs of movement but he wasn't quite awake yet. He was just starting to stir. "I would have thought, with your work, you wouldn't have a lot of time."

Unaware of what he was thinking, she nodded in agreement to the name being nice. "I like Rose. What other names do you like?" She asked, curious as she continued to rub a hand against the side of her small belly to ease the little dancer inside of her.

"I can show you pictures of me when I was younger! You'll see that I wasn't a bad boy. I was the type that your type just ignored. Well, maybe not you, but cheerleaders and those in general," Sylar told her, trying to not grin again, but it was nice to be able to tease her again, that they were feeling comfortable around each other enough to do it ( ... )

Claire faltered briefly. "I wasn't always nice. I mean, I was but it was expected for cheerleaders to ignore people. Jackie was....." She stopped herself because discussing Jackie with him was a bit awkward for her. Maybe for them both. "But yeah, that's probably why I sucked at being a cheerleader."

She nodded, watching him move to pick Noah up even though the boy wasn't really awake yet. "How do we do it?" She asked, curious. "I mean, with Nathan being my father and you being my husband...obviously it must be hidden still that Nathan was my father." It must be weird for her at times.

"Hmm, I like Dawn." She shrugged a bit, rubbing the side of her belly. "Or Gabriella."

"I didn't think you were always nice. I don't think anyone is always nice, but you've never seemed the way that most cheerleaders seem," Sylar said, trailing off a bit when she mentioned Jackie, because he wasn't quite sure what to say about her. He wanted to say she was a disappointment, because she was for him, because he had been aiming to get her. She was a victim of karma. She lied about being the one who went into the fire, so how could he know that he should have attacked the other one? "Still though, you looked good in your uniform. You should show me a routine sometime ( ... )

"No, I kind of sucked at being overly snobby. I mean, I tried but I never took very well to it." she had been no good at being mean like Jackie. Her old friend seemed to take to it easily as she had no problem at all hurting other people with her words. She liked the power, that had always been clear and that had ruined the whole idea of being popular for Claire. When he stated she had looked good, she almost blushed even though she was smirking. "Maybe. I don't think I could pull them off right now." She chuckled, giving her belly a pointed look.

She waited for him to catch on to what he meant and then she nodded. "Makes sense." Of course, his blood would prove there was no relation between them. She sighed softly. "Is that another reason we were considering leaving and disappearing?" Then they could be together openly without having to hide behind her dad.

"Yes, don't you like those names?" She asked him, quietly serious.

"I think that's a good thing though. Means you're all down to earth, and all. You're different, I've always told you that. Different from everyone, and I mean that in a very good way." He laughed when she pointed down at her stomach, looking down at it, and then at Noah still half asleep in his arms, and shrugged. "Well, we'll have time. We have all the time in the world, really."

"Yeah," he nodded slowly and sighed. "It was, just...to make things easier, especially when Noah came along, because of course, Molly understood, and knew it was me all along, but for Noah, it could be very confusing sometimes."

"No, no it's not that, Claire, it's just..." He paused and bit his lip. "You don't remember my first name, do you?"

She smiled softly at him, nodding her head. "I know. I guess I'm starting to be okay with it now." With being different. At one time all she had wanted was to be normal but now she was getting more settled with being different. Now she had to just watch over their children. "This is true, maybe I'll do the routines for exercise when I need to lose the baby weight."

"Right. But he understands now that it's you and not Nathan who is your father?" She wondered how they had convinced him to play along. "When were we going to leave?"

She paused, studying him before she caught on. "Gabriel, right?"

"And I'm glad that you are," he told her, shifting Noah in his arms a bit so he could kiss his sons forehead, lulling him back to sleep. "I...I think one of the things that helped, when it came to us...I didn't try to protect you. Not in the way that your Dad did, or Nathan. I mean, I would protect you if someone tried to hurt you, but...you know what I mean. You're not some fragile little object needing to be kept in a case, and all that."

Sylar nodded at her question, grinning a bit as he watched Noah's thumb blindly finding its way to his mouth, and he hugged him again.

"Yeah, it's Gabriel. I don't use it, obviously, but, it's my name," he said, smiling at her. "Not that I don't like Gabriella."

She watched him as he held Noah, feeling a slight pang in her chest. Her son was beautiful and there was something about the sight of him in Sylar's arms that tugged hard at her heart. She looked down, clearing her throat before nodding a little bit. "I know. You've never treated me like a fragile little thing that could break." Sure, he had broken her a few times but she had always pulled herself back together. Now he wanted to protect her.

"Well, we have a couple months or so before we need to decide." She smiled softly at him, moving over to the fridge to open the freezer so that she could pull out the plate of cookies that he had put in.
