Tumour in Emmerdale

Apr 03, 2013 13:41

In the UK soap opera I watch, Emmerdale, a story is going on about a brain tumour. As so often, they're not telling us what will happen, and I usually prefer not to know in advance. If you don't want to know what happened a few weeks ago, don't click this link.I've no personal experience, unlike the actor whose character (Brenda) has the tumour. ( Read more... )

I'm lucky in that nobody has offered me snake oil. There were some strange things I ran across on the internet, some of which ( ice) was helpful, some of which was just weird ( ... )

see, your stance makes sense to me. you DID the research, and know what you are willing to do. if you change your mind at a later date should your symptoms become more severe, that's fine too, you're still making an INFORMED decision.

other people may disagree, but it's YOUR body and you are in charge of it.

Thank you!

I've been lucky and it's worked pretty well... of course I'll never know f it would have been better with the meds but it was an informed choice and that's the important thing to me

some of mine are diabetes doctor related..."here, take this medication!" "why are you gaining weight? you need to LOSE weight!!" "you need to have weight loss surgery!" (that one went on for a good six months, then one visit when my husband was not with me, and i shared my plans to go visit friends in another state for a 2 week stay) "OMG, you cannot be flying on an airplane! you cannot leave the state! YOU WILL DIE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS SURGERY, YOU'LL BE DEAD IN SIX MONTHS!!!!" he then went out of the room for a while, then claimed to have spoken to my other doctor about me...WITHOUT me having given written permission, that's illegal in the US. he claimed the other doctor agreed, that i needed this immediate surgery ( ... )

Oh my!

Yes drink this magic potion or pray harder and all will be well!

The side effects from some meds seem to me to be worse than the illness they are trying to cure!

side effects are horrid, i'm tellin ya.

and here's another thing...i damn well should have died 22 years ago next month. i made a real good attempt at it, but got pulled back (syrup of ipecac to make you sick up tastes like black licorice, if you've ever wondered, and activated carcoal tastes gritty, and will make your poop black for a couple of days while it works it's way through your guts) and lived.

we ALL come with an expiration date. am i suicidal now? no. i'm fairly content, plus i have a grandbaby to spoil! but someday, i'll die. and i'm ok with *that* idea, too.

Wow! Glad you didn't succeed! And glad you have a grandbaby now... I have three, bless them... the youngest is currently being tested for epilepsy which is a worry but they are all the best things ever!

I'm not bothered about my expiration date either... I hope it's a long way off because there are loads of things I want to do but hey, we're born, we die... it's the bit in the middle which matters.

I don't watch soaps unless they are comedies, this is because to many of them trigger stuff I can't cope with ( ... )

I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband and the loss of your friends,

I'm really pleased about Sion though!

I absolutely agree with you that everyone deals in their own way , there is no right way or wrong way.
