So wait.

The dude carries a gun around however he pleases. But he said he wouldn't bring it to the con. And they banned him for it?

What?

Well the thing is, the article mentions him carrying but never mentions him carrying at the convention, plus he had a legal permit to do so in those areas - also sounds like anytime there were issues with carrying, any charges were dropped and that he was in the legal right to do so; what it seems to come down to is that AC feared this guy might reflect badly on the con so banned him in advance despite no laws being broken. If there's more going on in the story, it doesn't seem to be listed.

This wouldn't have been a big issue, but as it is, Kage supposedly sent the email explaining the reasoning behind banning him. After reading the letter it boiled down to "We're taking pre-emptive action against you, because even though you don't carry at the con, we're not going to jeopardize our image."

I also recommend that if anyone sees a Dorsai with a knife or a tactical flash light with strike face...report them to the con chair.

IK has the right to carry. Thing is though that AC has the right to ban anyone for any reason. Kage could ban everyone who likes The Eagles if he so desired. As I stated elsewhere this is a situation where an unstoppable Libertarian force (2nd Amendment rights) meets an immovable Libertarian object (private property rights).

IK has turned his carry status into a personal crusade and that's the main reason he was banned. He says he wouldn't carry in con areas but what are the odds if he's willing to carry into an airport? It's a risk no responsible con chair could afford to run.

That said Kage was extremely unprofessional in the manner in which he dealt with this. He can go ahead and put that claim of it affecting AC's relationship with the local police on Ebay and see who buys it. The childish and outright slap in the face contained in the certified letter reflects directly onto the content of his character.

That is true, it is a situation I am sure no con chair would or should have to carry as a risk - anyone who has attended a furry con knows there's a tad too much irresponsibility going on with those attending. I have not read all the items related to this situation but I would not be surprised if it couldn't have been handled a bit better, on the surface it sounds poorly executed.

This hits the nail on the head perfectly for both issues, yes.

I thought guns of all kind were banned in US airports because of Homeland Insecurity?

Open-carry is completely unnecessary, and so is all coverage of this matter.

I live in a country where the government has banned the general population from using any sort of firearms.

This doesn't let us normal people defend ourselves from the drug lords, common thieves, and the cops. Yes, I said the cops.

I don't like guns very much but I'd feel safer if I could carry something around to shoot back at someone when I was attacked.
