I have a job! I'm moving to Phoenix, Arizona! Everything will be different starting January 2008!

This is the good news that I've been sitting on for two weeks while terms were negotiated, contracts signed, writing samples submitted, backgrounds checked, etc. etc. As of this past Friday night, I am allowed to sing it to the world -- I am now ( Read more... )

Cool! Just remember once you get here, only us natives are allowed to make the joke about Phoenix having less culture than a cup of yoghurt. *g*

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

I'll be in your city! Eating your culture!

*delirious with happiness*

I'm already thinking of emulating your principle -- not to turn on the car air conditioning. If you have any other desert-living thoughts, I'd love to learn!

Awesome! I didn't even realize you were applying places. ^_^

A good friend of mine is in Tempe, which I believe to be near Phoenix, so if you need contacts let me know and I'll hook you up.

Thanks! I'm actually moving to Tempe (now you know where my new job is ;) ) -- but I figured that people would have a better idea of what I'm talking about if I wrote Phoenix ;) . So I would love to meet your friend after I settle in!

(And I wasn't seriously applying -- I was just getting my feet wet in preparation for next year, because I've heard so much about how stressful it is and wanted to have two chances at the process before my funding became more precarious -- who knew?! I am very, very grateful...)

I have one word: WHOAMYGODYAY!

New job! Clean air! Phoenix, AZ! Rebirth! Alphabet! IT'S A SIGN!

Of what, I don't know, but it screams positive to me. :D

AZ -- that is a pretty cool state abbreviation ;) .

And Fawkes was always one of my favorites ;) . But I'll settle for a cat companion :P .

OMG I love your icon! That was EXACTLY how I felt!

*Gets off chair, gets in pose, makes squeeing sound, looks around surreptitiously -- good, Ernestine didn't notice, climbs back onto chair*

I'm so glad that I have lj friends to help me through the transition -- and that's all thanks to you and Spuffy!

Hee! That icon is from the movie Chance. I don't know if you've seen it (it's the one that Amber Benson wrote, and that she and JM starred in), but I could probably arrange a loan if you're interested.

But yes, that scene is awesome, and the icon is perfect for news like this!

As for LJ, that's what we're here for. I think that's one of the best parts of being part of an online community. You can take your friends with you, wherever you go!
