Well, last time I spoke of a skating rink we had a little patch of ice over behind the pool. Alas, it got abnormally warm out and my little rink melted. So, instead of brooding over it I decided to take this opportunity to build a new one, in a better spot. Only problem was I needed snow to do it, and at the time it had all melted.... along with my ice.
Well, the snow is finally back and so is colder temperatures. So yesterday I went into the back yard and created a little SQUARE area... banked it on all sides with snow as per the internet directions on how to build an ice rink. It's about 20 X 20 feet... not huge, but big enough for two little boys under the age of 5 I figure. It's not like we're going to be playing a regulation hockey game out there or anything.
Anyway, I created my little area and then last night I got out the garden hose and gave the area a little spray down. The trick is to give the snow a light spray once or twice a day and then just walk away and let the cold created a crust over the area. Each day, you water a little more and then leave it .... eventually, your 'CRUST' turns into a nice sheet of ice and within a week or so, you've got yourself a rink.....
.... or that's the theory anyway. LOL.
I'll keep you all posted on the progress of this little project.
From here on in I will refer to this as 'PROJECT ICE-HOLE'... don't know why, I just like the way it sounds.
