2x18: Fearful Symmetry & Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire (Part 2)

FIVE MORE DAYS TO CHRISTMAS

I realize I haven't talked about finals yet. Finals weren't great.

Professor Allen's The Cantebury Tales final was not too bad. I did not think I wrote spectacular essays, but they were acceptable, I think. Since taking Professor Allen's final on Tuesday, I studied full-throttle for Biochemistry. I had Biochemistry and ( Read more... )

Whoa. Thank you for the Apocalypto review. It opens here tomorrow and I DO want to watch it immediately (I think i mentioned before that I usually d'load movies and watch them at home, to save time and money and myself from dissapointment of wasting both). I've read a couple of good historical books on the Azctek and Mayan civilization and their blood/death cult. Yes, it makes you squirm, but then what I always remind myself - it was a totally different culture, and to judge it from the modern POV is, mildly speaking, unwise. OT: I wonder what could be said about our, sex-obssessed culture, 500 yrs from now on ( ... )

Hi there! Sorry it's been a while.

Have you seen Apocalypto yet? I'm still excited about this movie, even though I saw it more than a week ago.

I have seen Passion of Christ. Well, I liked 3 moments in it, which were visually and mystically engaging. The rest was, IMHO, pure physiology of suffering. And also, IMHO, when suffering scenes become boring, they lose all effect.
Hmm, so you say the suffering gets boring? I haven't seen it yet, but I don't know if I could ever get "bored" with suffering. Not excited, but more like engaged in a viscerally-attached way, i.e. cringing, squirming, but grotesquely fascinated way.

Babel! I want to see this movie. I have not seen much in the way of previews, but I've been trying to get to see it. It's out of many theatres already. I'm quite sad. I think mostly because I'm curious as to how the different stories relate to each other.

I will take that M&S icon where Mulder has a streak of blood. I wanted a grim M&S icon for so long, and yours is perfect.Really! That is interesting! I think ( ... )

No, I have not seen Apocalypto yet, most probably we shall do it this Saturday. I hope the gory moments are not...gratuitious. I can always close my eyes though.

Hmm, so you say the suffering gets boring? In the way that e.g. why we watch Christ dragging the cross for...30 minutes on screen? I think I know that MG wanted to stress his sufferings, but IMHO this had to be cut at 10 mins, because 30 mins of dragging the cross bore people, and diminishes their compassion with Christ. More is nto always better. I'm not sure I expressed myself clear enough with this example. Anyway, the best way is to see it yourself and pass the judgement, as I always stress ( ... )

I really enjoyed those movie reviews! I have an interest in both The Nativity Story and Apocalypto, well especially Apocalypto. I love the movie Braveheart, and can stand the battle sequences in that, but just barely... so I'm not sure if I can do Apocalypto, since everyone says the blood and gore is even worse in that one :S

Your icons as always are so gorgeous! 19 first stood out to me the most because it is so clear and sharp but not overly done :) I also love the coloring on 43. I think I'm saving 40, and will credit when used! I think what stands out the most to me in your icons is that you have the greatest use of textures!

(53 is totally adorable also)

Yay! Another lover of Braveheart. God, I loved Braveheart. There are very few romances I love, but Braveheart is one of them. There is something so poignant and real about it, too. I personally think most romance is bull, farfetched, and unrealistic, but as unrealistic as this one is (riding into an enemy camp nearly completely unarmed, without assistance?), I was convinced by Mel Gibson's portrayal of ambition that is driven by hatred, desperation, and passion ( ... )

just a quick comment (I just arrived home, Ièm exhausted, but at least Rome is warmer than the UK :)

I love what you've done with this batch of XFiles icons: in particualr, the 33-40, the 49 and the 51. The fade, the scratches and your use of color make them special :D

Whee! I'm glad you liked these! I think I'll have to do more icons that have fade, scratches, and this particular use of color. I wasn't a huge fan of the coloring here, but I think I might convert :D

Of course, you would love #49 :)

I was surprised by how many different icons people were attracted to. Usually, everyone likes the same one or two icons, but in this batch, there was quite a variety of favorites.
