FIVE MORE DAYS TO CHRISTMAS

I realize I haven't talked about finals yet. Finals weren't great.

Professor Allen's The Cantebury Tales final was not too bad. I did not think I wrote spectacular essays, but they were acceptable, I think. Since taking Professor Allen's final on Tuesday, I studied full-throttle for Biochemistry. I had Biochemistry and ( Read more... )

Hi there! Sorry it's been a while.

Have you seen Apocalypto yet? I'm still excited about this movie, even though I saw it more than a week ago.

I have seen Passion of Christ. Well, I liked 3 moments in it, which were visually and mystically engaging. The rest was, IMHO, pure physiology of suffering. And also, IMHO, when suffering scenes become boring, they lose all effect.
Hmm, so you say the suffering gets boring? I haven't seen it yet, but I don't know if I could ever get "bored" with suffering. Not excited, but more like engaged in a viscerally-attached way, i.e. cringing, squirming, but grotesquely fascinated way.

Babel! I want to see this movie. I have not seen much in the way of previews, but I've been trying to get to see it. It's out of many theatres already. I'm quite sad. I think mostly because I'm curious as to how the different stories relate to each other.

I will take that M&S icon where Mulder has a streak of blood. I wanted a grim M&S icon for so long, and yours is perfect.

Really! That is interesting! I think from the responses about this icon batch, it seems like there's something for everyone! It's really quite surprising to me that someone, anyone, would be interested in a grim M&S icon! I personally did it because it's representative of the episode, and also because it's "different." Yay!

No, I have not seen Apocalypto yet, most probably we shall do it this Saturday. I hope the gory moments are not...gratuitious. I can always close my eyes though.

Hmm, so you say the suffering gets boring? In the way that e.g. why we watch Christ dragging the cross for...30 minutes on screen? I think I know that MG wanted to stress his sufferings, but IMHO this had to be cut at 10 mins, because 30 mins of dragging the cross bore people, and diminishes their compassion with Christ. More is nto always better. I'm not sure I expressed myself clear enough with this example. Anyway, the best way is to see it yourself and pass the judgement, as I always stress.

I have not seen Babel's trailer, but I usually don't trust trailers, for they are edited to catch mass attention and often give wrong impression about the movie. Yet the movie was worth the positive reviews I have read. Also, I have watched Little Children, which is another awards-worth movie and I think you have heard about it. IMHO these both movies are about responsibility. In a large sense of this word (responsibility towards our children, our partners, our friends etc).

It's really quite surprising to me that someone, anyone, would be interested in a grim M&S icon! Gee, it could be surprising if you didn't know that I'm quite...not interested in the M&S icons that over-stress the romantic aspect of their relationship. The icons that are neutral M&S or angsty attract my attention because I always was of a firm opinion that M&S are a couple that would face many professional and personal problems when put together. I also took those icons where M&S are in the car, I lvoe the yellow/green colors and the feelings of...desolation or sadness that infuse them.

What ep are you going to icon next?

Btw, I have also watched Marie Antoinette the other day. Although I can't stand KDunst, the movie was quite a delight. :)
