Harry/Draco painting, "The Power of Your Intense Fragility"

May 24, 2011 18:21

I finished my first painting of the year! I work like a pharmaceutical company: I try out a lot of paintings, and only a few of them are actually pushed through to completion. This painting is actually the 5th painting to be attempted since December 2010, and the first one to be completed.

Behold, a new Harry Potter pairing (for me), one that I am ( Read more... )

I like how this turned out. I like it better then the original drafts. As for that first image of Harry, I like that as well but it's not a Harry. Maybe a James, or a young Tom Riddle. Oh...I could see it being adjusted to being Tom Riddle, and for some reason it looks like his hand is up by his mouth and I could see him holding the locked right there.

Thank you! I got really excited when I started over and got to this version of Draco pretty quickly.

Yeah, I don't think the previous Harry was the right "Harry" to me. I was trying for an older version of Harry. But you're right, he started to turn into James for me. But I can see him as Tom Riddle too! Draco/Tom Riddle is definitely a little more kinky than I would like to try.

Who says it has to be a pairing picture. Could make it James and Lupin. (I find Lupin to be softer like Draco), or can do Tom Riddle and a young Lucius (but the James/Lupin would be more popular).

You're absolutely right...I didn't even think about a non-pairing/gen painting involving Tom Riddle or James. I guess my head was just in pairing!mode.

Hmm...I am definitely seeing this painting as James. He's kind of surly like James could be.

Thank you so much! You can see my previous HP works by clicking on any of the tags.

New paintings on their way! I'm pretty much in the final stages of 3 other paintings. When they're done, I'm going to feel hugely relieved.

Well when I look at the painting I immediately imagine them in the hospital wing of the castle.

It seems like the early morning/late night after a confrontation between the two of them that was way more intense than either of them expected or intended. Draco needs more medical attention than Harry. Harry was brought up much later than Draco.

I imagine this is the moment that Draco is released and he just got dressed haphazardly hoping to leave the wing quickly. He has to pass by Harry's bed to make his way out and he's hoping to say something anything but right as he passes by it seems Harry is unable to look at him. Their argument earlier took a much unexpected turn and Harry isn't ready to accept the sexual tension that boiled over into action.

Draco is disappointed but not completely thrown off, he knows if not now then eventually. For him it isn't a yes or no question anymore but rather, when.

*nom nom nom* Such beautiful art!

:D Thanks. It just came to me. You're art is really that good. I'm sure people will be able to come up with a bunch more.

Awww shucks *blushes* Your interpretation is pretty spectacular. I keep looking back at the painting with the hospital wing in mind now.

I love the red head poking up and vanishing in the process.

Really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Teehee, that was me experimenting with a love triangle with possibly Ginny. I like the idea of having a blurred person in the foreground, making the focus on Harry and Draco more like a photograph of two in a crowd. But it didn't quite work out...I lost interest quickly.

I've always been a fan of your work (Luna and Lucius are currently decorating my wall right now), and I have to say, this is spectacular. I can almost see this was a moment where they're not really...anywhere for that matter. It's that moment when one is trying to gather their surroundings, maybe after the Final Battle or something big, but all they can think about is...what happens next? The only things they're sure about is each other. If that makes sense.

Loving the pink on their cheeks to highlight certain features. This is great. Hopefully, this will be something that'll help you stick with H/D for quite a while! The poem, I agree, explains this very well! :D

Oh wheee!! That makes me unimaginably happy and moved. Thank you.

I think you've nailed something in your interpretation: it's definitely a moment in flux. The uncertainty and yet being near each other feels right.

Loving the pink on their cheeks to highlight certain features I was definitely going for a very boyish look. Their cheeks are not angular, and it's a tender kind of coloring. I definitely do hope I get more inspiration to do H/D! I've never really shipped H/D myself (although I'm a poly-shipper...I ship just about everyone with everyone), and yet, this journey into H/D has converted me.

The poem is so perfect. I want to name this painting after every line. I also very much liked
"only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses"
