Harry/Draco painting, "The Power of Your Intense Fragility"

May 24, 2011 18:21

I finished my first painting of the year! I work like a pharmaceutical company: I try out a lot of paintings, and only a few of them are actually pushed through to completion. This painting is actually the 5th painting to be attempted since December 2010, and the first one to be completed.

Behold, a new Harry Potter pairing (for me), one that I am ( Read more... )

I like how this turned out. I like it better then the original drafts. As for that first image of Harry, I like that as well but it's not a Harry. Maybe a James, or a young Tom Riddle. Oh...I could see it being adjusted to being Tom Riddle, and for some reason it looks like his hand is up by his mouth and I could see him holding the locked right there.

Thank you! I got really excited when I started over and got to this version of Draco pretty quickly.

Yeah, I don't think the previous Harry was the right "Harry" to me. I was trying for an older version of Harry. But you're right, he started to turn into James for me. But I can see him as Tom Riddle too! Draco/Tom Riddle is definitely a little more kinky than I would like to try.

Who says it has to be a pairing picture. Could make it James and Lupin. (I find Lupin to be softer like Draco), or can do Tom Riddle and a young Lucius (but the James/Lupin would be more popular).

You're absolutely right...I didn't even think about a non-pairing/gen painting involving Tom Riddle or James. I guess my head was just in pairing!mode.

Hmm...I am definitely seeing this painting as James. He's kind of surly like James could be.

Could make it Snape & James, there is a pretty good fandom pairing for that one. (for those Harry/Snape people who can't do shota).

What's shota?

Hmm...could be Snape and James too...the possibilities are endless!

I'll be covering that in my panel about Yaoi vs Slash, but Shota generally means 'non-adult boys'.

Oh by the way, seeing this doll in your icon, I have to say, part of my inspiration of this piece was actually your dolls. I didn't really use your dolls as reference photos, but I was seeking out a similar doll-like look for Draco and Harry. It's a very androgynous and yet exquisitely beautiful male look.

The dolls are wonderful inspiration. Alot of artists use them. I don't mind/care even if you did use mine. I don't have the ability to draw, thus I photo dolls. :)
