Prologue ~
1.1
This is an
extreme poverty/matriarchy/pixel legacy. It features--and is narrated by--Meat Notgay, a
simsperiment daughter of the goddess simselves of
dragancaor and
mjo5oh. Thanks to
kingmike1224 for Catalina and to
pixel_trade for giving us so much pixel fun.
My goddess-given lands have blessed our family, and while we might still live on dirt floors, we live the good life.
Bronislava is looking so grown up. She's a teen now!
Ulyana and Ninel swiftly reached the top of their class, excelling in their schoolwork.
And their mother, Catalina, comes to visit often.
I've found it's convenient to keep the tent, even though we now have 2 large beds inside.
One night we ran out of groceries, and Bronislava went to Ed's BBQ Shack in her PJs, just to get us more food.
The next day she started a garden, which she cares for dutifully, watering by hand.
I think seeing the price of groceries, or perhaps the urgency of running out of food, (or both) influenced her.
Both my mothers comes to visit periodically. I was finally able to demonstrate that I've learned to prepare food not unlike the delicacies we enjoyed in their home.
I think they derive great amusement out of the curious things that mortals consider important.
And while they are supportive grandmothers, they are not doting servants to their grandchildren like other grandparents can be.
The twins, like their older sister, are far more successful at fishing than I ever am.
Have I mentioned what a good girl Bronislava is? She takes time out of her studies to read to her little sisters.
Studying is something she spends a great deal of time on. She yearns for knowledge, like I do.
I was surprised to realise that my daughters all acheived an unusual peace of mind. I attribute it to the blessed land we live on. They have the kind of peace of mind one normally sees in sims who have lived many years and gained great perspective, or have acheived their greatest goals in life. The kind of peace of mind I hope to someday acheive, but I'm not there yet. When I observed this, I thought that the coming years would be easy, and free of mischief. How mistaken I was! They still get into trouble daily.
Ninel angered a hive of bees.
Both twins started spying on the neighbours with the telescope.
And I'm not sure Bronislava had the best intensions when she spun her sister around until she barfed.
And though the twins grew older, their peace of mind didn't mean they were all that wise. They would sit outside right through the winter storms and chat obliviously.
They caused messes which wreaked havoc on our dirt floors.
They caused messes which gum up the plumbing.
Bronislava burns the dinner regularly. I try to remember that I used to do the same, and often. But we don't have food to spare!
And I thought Bronislava was being her helpful self, tidying up the leaves from our ever-growing forests...
But she was really just out there to play.
Now that the girls are all teens, they don't always get along so well, either. I thought happy teens with peace of mind wouldn't quarrel!
AND WHO PAINTED MY BUM???
Oh, Catalina, sometimes I just want to run away!
Ulyana developed such a great longing for a piano. So I told the twins to get digging, and that the land would provide for them. But I didn't expect she'd dig up the kitchen!
By the time Ninel dug up a treasure chest, Ulyana had forgotten all about the piano.
So I used the money to tile our kitchen and bathroom. I'm so relieved to put an end to weeds in our bathroom and pits in our kitchen!
The first thing Bronislava did was jump rope in the house! Will they never learn to keep outside things outside?
At least the army of snowmen remained outside!
And Bronislava cared for her garden even after the snows made it frustrating.
Ninel pulled some stunt with the door that I cannot understand. She must have learned that at school.
Or maybe that's another thing she learned from spying on the neighbours. Who knows what she picks up through that telescope!
Even though I'm feeling older now, I haven't forgotten my life-long dream of becoming a world-class dancer. Some of the simoleans from Ninel's treasure went towards a new room on our house, and a dance barre.
I may have grey hair, but I still have the moves!
And I still have visits from Catalina.
Bronislava grew up into a beautiful woman. I expect she will have many happy years on our goddess-blessed lands.
