Korean BBQ, or bulgogi, is a delicious combination of salty, sweet, and spicy. Bulgogi combines the spice of Korean Pepper Paste with sultry sesame, fruity Korean pear, and garlic. *dies*

I have been meaning to make steamed buns for ages and this may well be the recipe I start with. I'd never thought of matching pork and Korean pear before but it seems so obvious now. Yum.

Aw, thanks! Some people use pear juice or pear in the marinade to tenderize the meat for bulgogi, but I wanted to throw hunks in the actual buns because, like you said, the pairing sounded so perfect! I really enjoyed it!

Please start with this recipe! I started with another and had to do some legwork (read: lots of research/googling) after that one didn't turn out PLUFFY. I've used this one twice, though, and it's been PERFECT both times. I love it!! And it only needs 40 minutes resting time, which is awesome. Let me know what you think!!

I will do. Although since it's technically baking my husband might do it; he gets sniffy if I encroach on his baked goods territory ;)

Luckily my first dim sum experience was in the company of a number of old hands who were able to talk me through it. :) Baked and steamed bbq'd pork puns have always been one of my favourites but I've never had the ambition to make them at home since they always seemed to be so much work. Kudos to you for your enterprise.

Thanks! I was surprised at how easy the recipe was -- the other I tried was HARDER and came out MUCH less awesome :)

That looks so delicious! I've never heard of Korean-style BBQ buns only Hong Kong-style.
