Looks awesome and yummy. And sort of reminds me of Dig Dug.

sweet! I <3 sukiyaki! I had shabushabu here the other day, which is essentially the same, but instead, you submerge the stuff in water to cook it.

I had sukiyaki once at a Japanese restaurant but I didn't really like it. I thought that the sauce in which you cook the food was way too sweet and then made everything taste the same.

Shabu shabu is way better, in my opinion. :)
(And unlike belcantin said, it's not just water, it's cooked in a broth.)

There is a distinct homogeny to the flavor with the sauce on there; it's a strong sauce. Of course, the bits are just as good on their own or with a little soy sauce, and upon further exploration, I may discover there are more ways to make it -- I'm sure I'm doing it wrong somehow, but I don't really care because everyone so far agrees that it's tasty and a lot of fun.

Heh. It was at an enkai... i may have had a little to drink. Okay, a lot to drink. It's probably cooked in dashi. I think I saw some konbu fished out of there at some point.

Sounds both fun and tasty. I think I'll have to give this a go.

Mmmmm. Sukiyaki. I haven't had it since I was in Japan many years ago... just thinking about it is bringing back delicious memories! :) I think I prefer shabu shabu, but sukiyaki is REALLY good...
