Blue cheese dip and keeping

Hey everyone,

This saturday I bought some blue cheese at the market (about 100 grams/one ounce? of Cambozola) with intention of making a blue cheese dip for hot wings. Now, I only just got a freezer last week (I won an iPod with some internet contest and asked if I could get a freezer instead ;) ) so I'm still pretty new to what I can keep in the ( Read more... )

How little dip do you want to make? 100g isn't that much (a bit more than 3 ounces, not 1) so that would just be enough for one portion of dip (enough for 4-6 people) and it easily keeps in the fridge for a couple of weeks and longer than the dip would (depending on what's in it). There's definitely no need to freeze it.

The thing is, I'm not sure Cambozola will work for blue cheese dip as it's basically a blue brie and not a classic blue cheese like Gorgonzola, Stilton or Danish Blue. It doesn't crumble, for example and probably doesn't melt well, either.

Oh :) Thanks for the info regarding the weight.

Hmm, I might still give it a try :/ I'm actually pretty new to (blue) cheeses, I always just take a creamy Gouda cheese from the market. I'll let you know how it turned out!

Congrats on the new freezer! And sadly, I don't know the answer to your question, but since I have a built in metric weight converter in my brain I will chime in and say that 100 grams is actually more like 3-3.5 ounces.
