I remember the series... and also the original series with Lorne Greene (Ben Cartwright of Bonanza) as Adama. Not sure which one I liked best. Always fun to connect an actor with one series to another.

Usually I don't have much interest in SF but I enjoyed BSG because of its human relationships. Unfortunately I know nothing about the original series.

The original series was simpler... much easier to keep track of the individual characters. I hope you have a chance to see at least a few episodes some time.
