Very handsome. I love the fish table. This is another example of the 18th century obsession with little tiny feet.

It is no use at all wishing men dressed that way now. I would totally be willing to give up my sweatshirt and wear an empire gown, just to see it!

That is a Kennedy table if ever I saw one!! Those odd fishy dolphin things are one of the heraldic emblems of Clan Kennedy and you can see them all over Culzean Castle! Here's one on a cannon.

Somebody needs to write a kid-fic about the dolphin creatures. Don't you think a little child would imagine stories abou them?

Oh yes! I can just imagine all kinds of stories! Sadly kid-fic is not my forte, I'll have to leave that to you :)

I love this silhouette of Ned sooo much <3 Thanks for posting this, it's a while since I've seen it.

If you're interested, nodbear wrote a post about the silhouette and artist, William Wellings, here: The captain's best side : silhouette portraits of Edward Pellew and other naval figures.

What a wonderful strong profile, and co-signed on the men's clothing! Empire gowns would be a cinch; I'd even go back to stays and panniers for that!

Bit more like Samuel West's nose than Robert Lindsay's. Not, you know, that I've spent very much time looking at those gentlemen or anything. :)
