Very handsome. I love the fish table. This is another example of the 18th century obsession with little tiny feet.

It is no use at all wishing men dressed that way now. I would totally be willing to give up my sweatshirt and wear an empire gown, just to see it!

I love the fish table.
That is a Kennedy table if ever I saw one!! Those odd fishy dolphin things are one of the heraldic emblems of Clan Kennedy and you can see them all over Culzean Castle! Here's one on a cannon.

Somebody needs to write a kid-fic about the dolphin creatures. Don't you think a little child would imagine stories abou them?

Oh yes! I can just imagine all kinds of stories! Sadly kid-fic is not my forte, I'll have to leave that to you :)

It's a very pretty cannon isn't it?! It sits on the battlements at Culzean pointing towards Kintyre and Ireland.

Technically speaking, I think this might be a howitzer or a mortar, rather than a cannon.

Mortar :)

Despite how I wrote it, mortar was and is my first choice.

And rightly so!(с) :)
This gun has a barrel length less than 6 times its caliber. Ergo mortar.
Besides, it is heavy and stationary, in contrast to howitzers.
