Marcoh was better suited to other aspects of rebuilding than the actual physical labor. When he finished the scheduled round of immunizations he chose to start his lunch break early and walked through the empty but marked off plots to the current building site to watch.
A man who'd been a builder before the war had proudly returned to his past profession and was supervising the work, explaining his ideas to Miles for how the district should be restructured.
Scar (Marcoh still thought "Scar" when putting a name to him) was looking over a pile of old bricks. The doctor's curiosity was piqued. "What do you mean to do with those?"
"These are bricks that were sorted out as being in a suitable condition for reuse." Scar picked up a sturdy piece in one hand and considered it. "I feel a kinship with this act. With old things being re-purposed."
"Me too, my friend," Marcoh agreed.
