There's an ongoing discussion in the community regarding sexism annoyingly prevalent in the gaming industry~ which includes storyline, various gaming communities, character creation, online and offline encounters, and trash talking. The phenomenon is more pronounced in a right-wing oligarchy-dominated patriarchal backwater like the Failippines.

(...and I use gender-neutral insults when gaming. minus stuff that could be construed as homophobic.)

same here. my vocabulary increased after the sexist insults were banned from the computer shop~~

Let's not forget the double-whammy that is a man's (or boy's, as the case may be) pride getting dented by getting their gamer ass whooped by a girl.

So yeah, that explains the sexist remarks (though does not justify it).
