Chatting with family last night, who were of the opinion that my estimate of 50+ mates coming is unrealistic. Now, I don't think ( Read more... )

David and I certainly would. Surely you'd make 50 between friends and family? Hell, I'm hoping 100 will come to our wedding!

My family are talking about inviting family and neighbours, and then my friends on top of that as they thought I would invite around 20 people not the 50+ I am thinking of. I am trying to persuade them that a sit down meal is a terrible and ungodly expensive plan, and we should just go with a bit of a party with a wee bit of catering. Hence the data gathering.

Party & catering is really the way to go. Stand your ground, you will get ten million! (<-- valid scientific estimate of numbers.)

Oh God, no, pub and finger food is the way to go. Or at most a fork buffet with some tables scattered round if folks want to sit. Although if your parents want to pay.... ;)

Ah no worries! We appreciate we are being awkward Aussie types (we have two week window where we can get to Cork), so please don't feel in any way you have to make your life difficult. Raise a glass to us over Christmas, and we'll toast you and yours in Cork.

I'm somewhere on a spectrum that includes HELL YES... and OH WAIT - Could Be Tricky (What With Not Knowing Where I'll Be For NYE)... and MaybeJustMaybe.

So yes, I think it would depend on mine and boy's epic Move To London 2011 plans, as if that happened we'd be doing city things at that time. Would be bloody fantastic to come to Cork for such a fine reason as yourself though, so I'm very much a definitely maybe ;)
