That stuff you play it sounds so passé.

Right now, I have been working on various essays for my coursework whilst balancing it was writing random Doctor Who, Pushing Daisies and Vampire Dairies fic. The life choices I made are beautiful stunning fierce because I keep finding myself working on the wrong things in wrong word document-like, uh, the Doctor Who/Pushing Daisies fic I started ( Read more... )

FutureSex/LoveSounds is one of the best albums of all time. I am not really a fan either and considering I was still pretty heavily into punk when it came out it's pretty crazy that I was so into it. You can't deny it is just a great, well done, SOLID album.

I still miss Aaliyah.

LOL ikr. That kills me. I can't get my irrational hate on when I am jamming to his solo records, though I admit he has been growing on me for the past couple weeks. I obviously blame the Social Network promotional tours for that. :|

Her death reminds the saddest thing ever. It could've easily been preventable.

I have actually been hating him way less. I kind of like him at this point. As far as evil celebs go he isn't even on my radar anymore. Crazy how things change.

I think I've been transferring my hate to other random celebrities with justifiable reasons, which is good, because I have been growing tired of explaining my irrational hatred for him.

like, uh, the Doctor Who/Pushing Daisies fic I started made its way into the report I wrote up for my Women Studies history course

Heh, that has so happened to me.

God, I forgot just how many singles "Good Girl Gone Bad" had. That album was the soundtrack to my junior/senior years of high school and a little bit of college as well.

STILL need to get into Girls Aloud. I keep meaning to, but I end up getting in one song at a time, which is probably not the best way to do it.

I was like, WHY IS THIS SO LONG? WHY IS THIS DOUBLE SPACED? I was seriously stressing over something so insignificant that I felt so foolish after I realized what I had done.

IKR that album was made to be a singles album, but it was perfect and it did come out at the right time. "Umbrella" was summer jam, and "Shut Up and Drive" is just a proper track. Do I need to link you to some Girls Aloud full albums because I can do that.

Haha. "HAVE I ALWAYS DOUBLE SPACED MY FIC? IS THIS A GOOD IDEA?"

Nah, I should be good. One of my friends is just now really getting into GA, and we share this weirdly symbiotic music relationship, so I'm sure within the next week I will get an extensive discography from her (much like how she got about half of Matt Nathanson's stuff from me)

I hate double spacing to be quite honest, LOL. Such a waste of paper.

LOL fantastic! Girls Aloud should be shared between friends. I mean, really, they were a proper discovery for me.

There is nothing about this post that I don't love. I have such an unabashed appreciation of pop music, particularly good pop music, and this list is spot on (even your honorable mentions are lovely!). Though, I have to admit that while scrolling through this list I kept waiting for Girls Aloud to crop up until they eventually did. Speaking of which, that album of theirs is the first one I listened to and was immediately hooked from there. For that, I'll always have a soft spot for it.

Now I feel like putting some of these albums on while I finish up this paper. For whatever reason, this seems like a good idea and I thank you for it :)

I'll rather listen to a quality pop album than Pitchfork's pick of the week. It is honestly unfair how much of a bad rap pop music gets. You just can't write anything and expect it to be huge. Writing a true pop hit takes time, talent, and soul. It takes real drive and passion so it personal offends me people write it off or say it's just inherently fluffy when that's not really the case! LOL it would be a cold day in hell when Girls Aloud doesn't get mentioned in my posts about pop. THEY ARE PERFECT, REVOLUTIONARY, SHOULD BE INTERNATIONAL RENOWNED. I need a new album right now. It's been two years since Out of Control.

I am glad I am an inspiration, Kalie. I love pop music. I am glad I got over my music snobbery days.

The albums I know on here, I love (Nelly Furtado was totally my '06 jam), and the ones I don't I want to check out. Pop music, you are my favorite. There's just nothing like it for improving my mood and making me want to sing along and dance.

Haha, my music taste gets so limited sometimes, so there are a LOT. I haven't listened to Lykke Li, The Bird and the Bee, Utada, Annie, Girls Aloud, or Alphabeat. And a couple others (Kylie, Aaliyah, even Beyonce to an extent) I've listened to individual songs but not the albums in full.

Damn, girl! We definitely need to change that. Is there any one in particular you are interested in most? I can help you locate some download links from Mediafire or whatever.

This is a great list. I'm actually really surprised to learn that Aaliyah's album was released in 2001 - her music is firmly 90s to me, marking the glory days of the MTV's TRL. It's funny that you should mention your irrational hatred for JT. I too was anti-NSYNC and BSB when they were huge like the little misanthrope I was but now I actually really enjoy my 90s pop. My 90s playlist is probably the greatest thing to ever happen on my iTunes. Everything else is pretty firmly this decade, I think. I whole-heartedly agree with the inclusion of Don't Stop and The Family Jewels. It's sort of sad how much I relate to The Family Jewels; sometimes I'm like how are you in my head GET OUT.

I often have troubles playing a lot of late 90s/early 00s albums. They are fall into this cusp because, honestly, the first couple years of the new millennium was sort of an extension of the 90s.-I mean, that's definitely not a horrible thing. I do understand the confusion and shock. I have troubles remembering No Doubt's Rock Steady (an album I legit forgot to list somewhere) was also released in 2001. I haven't listened to NSync in forever, so I must get around to reviewing their discography. I have a feeling I'll legitimately like them now that I am over my ~elitism.
But, yes, the first is definitely firmly this decade. Pretty much most came out after 2005. LOL the later part of this past decade is where pop music shined. Well, I guess. I cheated with Marina's album since it did just come out in January. :|

Yeah basically anything that came out when I was in early high school is still 90s to me, even though it was technically the new decade. Also man, I love GGGB so much. I wish I could get behind JT's album but I hate the concept for The What Goes Around two hour video so much that even hearing the song makes me want to die.

But Marina's album leaked before that, right?

Yup, though I was still in primary school. I am showing my age right now, aren't I? LOL I never saw the "What Goes Around" video truthfully. My irrational hatred of Justin prevented that ever happening. I love the song though.-I mean, obviously, I did list it as one of favorite tracks.

Well, I actually lied. The album came out late February so that means it didn't leak until mid February at the earliest. Whatevs. I break my own rules all the time.
