As I'm sure you gathered from one tweet, I just had to laugh at some of it, but then other parts just stood out as really small, but crucial moments (I'm looking at Don telling Sally and Bobby about Dick in Anna's house.)

Just so I get another watch in, I'm going to still marinate, on the rest.

I was very fond of that moment. It was a large step for Don to back so I was very impressed. I enjoyed how Peggy and Ken bonded through gaining an account.

It was a big step for Don, same goes for Ken. He's not selling out his life outside the office for the company, but he's still looking to get new business.

I hope we see more Ken next season. We didn't get enough of him this season.

I cannot believe the character assassination they did to Betty. She's always been one of my favorites on the show and I am always game for any changes but Weiner was actively removing every trait that made her sympathetic whilst Don was allowed to grown and improve. How is that fair?

Oh god YES! I should have expected this the way she rushed to marry Henry last season (though, unlike most, I have always liked him) but she got it so bad this season. There were bright spots in her characterization but, all in all, it was a mess.

A++ for Roger, really. I cannot stand him nevertheless.

I often dislike his character, love his one liners though.

I have two thoughts about Carla getting fired: (1) LOL oh, I guess we are out of the only recurring POC on the show (and here I thought this show couldn't get any whiter and (2) OH GOD YES, she didn't deserve that bullshit when she essentially raises Sally and the irrelevant one.

I'm glad they didn't have Carla just take it though. And I'm also glad that people like Henry for example know how she is v. much connected with the family.

Lolol your icon. CHAUNCY.

That's true. My cousin and I were praising the screen throughout Carla's reaction. I am also pleased she ended up calling Henry because that was absolute bullshit.

RIP CHAUNCY. I bet he only survived two weeks out on his own. I hated Duck the day he pulled that mess.

I thought this was a good episode, but perhaps not the best finale. It had a lot of anxiety built in and uncomfortableness, and yes, characters make terrible decisions, but there was good setup for season 5 in all of it. I'm not sure I agree that they've killed Betty as a character (as discussed in the comments). Certainly she's become less sympathetic this season, but I've never felt like she doesn't make sense, or that she's not fascinating in her behavior (I still like Betty; I'll defend her all over the place. She's of such a different universe than the rest of the much more loved female characters on Mad Men). Certainly her course this season, in taking steps to get this fresh start that she thought would solve her problems, failed, and it sent her to a boiling point. It will be interesting to see what will become of her next season. And I loved that final scene with her and Don.

Yeah. My thoughts about the finale isn't completely fleshed out right now but I am just stunned at the writing in some scenes. It wasn't the strongest and I am used to a better quality finale from the show. I wasn't hoping for 'Shut the Door. Have a Seat.' Part II or anything but IDK. I expected something else.

It may be that I need to see it again, but for me, season 3 had started to drag, and what stood out from the S3 finale was that the last 20 minutes or so were so amazing that they were just lakjda;lsfj overpowering. I don't even remember the rest of it? Which is probably why I can't judge. I just thought that tonight's episode was strong if not the greatest ep to ever be. Certainly there's a lot of vitriol going around right now that I don't think it deserves. :/ There seems to be a quote from Matt Weiner that the finale was going to "confound people's expectations." Think he was definitely right about that.

I understand where you are coming from. Season three is actually still fresh in my mind. I finished a complete series marathon with my cousin a couple months ago since she never seen the show and I always thought 'Shut the Door. Have a Seat.' was the most nerve-racking sixty minutes I ever had to endorse. I loved every bit. That's where my problems of coming from. I do think I am subconsciously still comparing the two fully know that is not what I want and getting. I don't know. I definitely need a second viewing at a later date before I fully write off the finale.
