Status Report [open!]

After talking with his mother, Florence has been spending more time out and about the Mansion. He'll talk to anyone who notices him -- small, serious, soft-spoken young man that he is -- and he spends some time lending a hand with the hunting-and-gathering; but mostly he watches, and doesn't head back home to the Orkney cottage until sunset.

Gawain is leaning on the gate when he does come, watching the glow fade from the trees.

Florence comes up quietly, pausing a little distance along the fence, not to disturb him if he's preoccupied, not to avoid him either.

Gawain smiles across the distance at him. "Hello, you."

[floweredknight]

He smiles back, straightening up a little. "Hello."

"You're here, lad?"

[floweredknight]

"Ay, sir." A quick, open smile.

Gaheris laughs, a short little surprised laugh. "God, you look like your mother."

[floweredknight]

Florence laughs, too. "I thank you."

Melou just pounces him unabashedly, with no preamble, saying, "Coz!"

Eep!

Florence staggers a little, and laughs, hugging him. "Good day!"

"Good day, how dost thou!"

[floweredknight]

"I'm well, I'm well, and thou?"

When he gets back to the cottage, his mother will be waiting for him, tying up herbs in the kitchen with nimble fingers and singing to herself, perfectly aware that he's nearby.

"You're up!" he says, surprised.

[inglewoodblues]

"For a moment," she says, and smiles at him. "Come thou."

[floweredknight]

So he shuts the door behind him and crosses to her, offering his hands.
