After Coast-to-Coast trip follow by a marvelous fun hectic gaming weekend for 8 at our home, I'm spending most of this week relaxing, recharging, and preparing for another hectic week starting with a trip to Las Vegas with Judy followed immediately by a weekend trip to New York City for Maker Faire with Terri.

Today we are busy preparing to leave tomorrow on our trip to London for Eastercon. We decided to blow our USAirways points on this trip once we determined that we weren't up to traveling to Worldcon in Melbourne, Australia this year. terriwells had being wanting to go to a Maker Faire for some time, so when I saw a really cheap fare from Orlando to San Francisco a couple of days ago, I booked it. Last night, I got around to booking event admissions. Now I only need to book a hotel. Judy and I had a delightful time at Boskone and had a lovely dinner at Anthony's Pier 4 with a friend we met via "Kingdom of Loathing", but are happy to be back home. We flew Southwest Monday morning with a stop in St. Louis on the way to Orlando. No one even mentioned whether or not we were "too fat to fly" even though each of us needed a seat ( Read more... )

After Amtrack canceled our train to Boston, we found a reasonable last-minute fare on JetBlue nonstop from Orlando to Boston. The flight ran on schedule without incident and we are busily enjoying Boskone. Hopefully our return Monday morning on Southwest will be equually uneventful.

We had plans to take Amtrak to Boskone this coming weekend (leaving today), but due to blizzard related track obstructions on CSX's tracks in Virginia, our train has been canceled. Amtrak strung us out by canceling trains only one day in advance for the past several days, but I did suspect that this might happen when they canceled yesterday's ( Read more... )
