Shahrukh throws a fit but Om doesn't pay attention to it. Over-acting runs in the family, after all.

I laughed SO HARD, ahaha.

And I think the subtle angst was actually kinda sorta necessary: the main source of the slight feeling of discontent I was left with after the movie ended was the fact that Om got to reincarnate as Om, and eventually have all his Om-ish memories and mannerisms, but Sandy merely got Shanti's face, so some part of Om will always be in love with a dead woman, unless one tries to argue that Shanti's face was *all* he loved (which I don't think anyone would try to argue)...and yeah, that's a bit angsty! The movie was hyperbolically optimistic and while I enjoyed that optimism for what it was, I definitely think the fumbling realism Om faces in his relationship with Sandy here is a very nice, grounding way to cap the movie. Or something.

And I think I ship Preity/Om too, after reading their section in this fic. You've capture Preity's voice perfectly, and they are hilarious together!! :D

Yeah, somebody noted that it was quite ironic - the movie says it won't end until the ending is happy, and okay, they do off the villain but I didn't feel the romance between Om and Sandy very much and the ending made sure I thought his TRUE love was definitely Shanti. Om and Sandy was more a student having a crush on a teacher - or, a fan crushing on an idol. And the teacher/idol being kind to the student/fan. Nothing too romantic going on between them IMO but I can still imagine them marrying each other etc.

It's totally one of those little things that bug me about the film - why doesn't Shanti reincarnate? Sandy doesn't get such a good deal.

Hmm. I really liked this--especially the mention of Pappu at Om's wedding, and Preity and Sharukh! Lovely. And I love the ending. =)

And this bit:She's in love with a dream much like his own love for Shanti was a dream that became love that became a tragedy. Because, YES. Which is one of the reasons why I feel that Om and Sandy would never 'fit' together romantically. She seems to love the idea of him rather than him, actually, if that makes any sense.

And as for the lack of a 'happy ending' for them--I think the 'ending' for Om is that he finally brought Shanti's murderer to justice. I don't really see Om continuing things with Sandy once the movie ends, I think they might have eventually fallen apart, once Om's entire 'reason' for re-incarnation was satisfied, and his love for Shanti just becomes a memory of a love, rather than the real thing.

Just my two cents.

And also: tiny quibble, just bringing it to notice because nothing should detract from a good fic--when you say fancy hairdo's they give her, she will be Shanti I think

Yes, I didn't really think of Om and Sandy in a very romantic way. She was obviously a huge fangirl of his, though.

And hey, you're of course to have your own interpretation of what happens post-movie. I'm not claiming my fic is what *really* happens, it's not even necessarily what I think will happen, just an idea I got that I felt the need to put down.

Thanks for the typo corrections, I didn't spend a huge amount of time re-reading and editing this fic (though I probably should've).

And also, Preity Zinta isn't a star kid, so she couldn't have known Karan or Om or Abhishek Bachchan as a kid.
Um. Suspend your belief there for me? I had a vague memory of her having family in the industry but I just looked up some info, and yeah, you're right, she got in another way. I'm too fond of those parts to just delete them from the fic altogether. *selfish* :D

Ok, I definitely had an Om/Pri dream just now. O_O

But it was all angsty and Om was like, with a white chick, and drunk, and knocked on Pri's door and was flirting with her, but then got a little verbally abusive because she had a guy on the phone. It was really really weird and definitely due to the fac that I read your fic before going to sleep, lol!
