I wrote OSO fic ...and it's angsty. WTF, I know!

deleted scenes from the sequel
fandom: om shanti om
pairing: om/shanti (implied others)
rating: pg
word count: 730
notes: I don't own and um, I'm not quite sure where this came from, but here it is! SPOILERS FOR THE FILM - should go without saying.

He proposes to her in a romantic setting - the sets of Kuch Kuch Bhi Hota Hai, in fact - and she says yes, smiling a smile so beautiful that for a moment she reminds him of Shanti, really reminds him of Shanti.

Then she squeals in delight and pulls him close and smells of bubblegum and hairspray.

He loves her, but she's Sandy, and not Shanti and no matter how many My Fair Lady-esque acting lessons and fancy hairdos they give her, she will never be Shanti.

Meanwhile she can just be his.

Preity calls him.

“Om, what the hell is this all about? You're getting married?”

“I've been doing just fine, thanks, darling,” he answers sarcastically but then smiles. “Yes, I am getting married.”

“How dare you? You gave me your promise!” Preity snaps and Om cringes.

“Babes, I was ten years old at Rakesh uncle's party that time and at the same party I made Abhishek promise he would wear one of your skirts,” Om explains and pauses to chuckle. “Actually now I wonder if he ever fulfilled that promise.”

Preity isn't amused. “Is this because of those rumors about you and Karan Johar?”

Om sighs. “Karan and I are just very good friends.”

“Then why did I find you shoving your pen up his nose in the dressing room of Filmfare 2005?”

“Well, I can't say what his relationship is with that pen...”

Preity laughs, finally. “You bastard. Have you told your other girlfriends yet?”

“I don't have any other girlfriends, love,” Om answers with a smile. “Listen, I have a shoot starting pretty soon..”

“Yeah, yeah,” Preity says nonchalantly. “I'll come to your wedding with a man richer than Bill Gates and you'll be sorry.”

“Make sure the man is also more handsome than Bill Gates,” Om quips back.

“I'll make sure he's better looking than you,” Preity says and laughs. “Bye for now, talk to you later!”

“Abhishek in a dress?” Om asks but she's already hung up.

Sandy loves him. Well, no, Sandy loves Om Kapoor and sometimes Om feels like even though she knows him, his real self and his past, she still loves the Om-shaped thing that stared at her from the silver screen, the movie posters on her bedroom walls.

She's in love with a dream much like his own love for Shanti was a dream that became love that became a tragedy.

But if the ending isn't happy, the movie isn't over.

He can't help but feel like this isn't the ending he originally wished for.

The wedding is a huge smash hit, says SmashHits.Com in their glittering report, under the bank advertisement banner is a picture of him and Sandy in the 2 crore wedding sari. (Nevermind the fact they stole the whole report from IndiaGlitz.) She smiles widely and he smiles beside her, hand on her hip and thinks ten of those saris could make a Rakesh Roshan film.

Okay, maybe he's just vaguely annoyed that Hrithik couldn't make it because he's shooting Krrish 4 (also known as Kriz as adviced by numerologist) in Uzbekistan (a popular location nowadays).

It doesn't matter, everybody else is here.

Everybody who is anybody.

But still it's not until he sees Pappu, gray hair under the celebration turban, not just his smile creasing his eyes any more, that Om stops feeling lonely.

*

They have a son and he grows up to be so handsome, Om has to specifically ask him not to talk to certain directors. Everybody wants a piece of the Little O.

“But Dad, I think I'm ready,” his son argues.

“Shahrukh, graduate college first. Then we'll see about the films,” Om tells him.

Shahrukh throws a fit but Om doesn't pay attention to it. Over-acting runs in the family, after all.

*

He's not unhappy, he would never allow himself that. The ending has to be happy.

But he's not as happy as he could've been, had fate decided to make his life different.

He has Sandy's love to the very end, and Shanti's love a faint memory, a grainy film song or a tune playing in the radio.

Maybe the story continues from here, maybe he incarnates again, even though he's lost Shanti forever now. It doesn't seem to matter.

He also knows he, Om Kapoor, doesn't do re-takes.
