Performance art at a McCain rally
This is great! I had seen footage of this same rally without realizing that the woman standing behind McCain was not really Sarah Palin. It's in the middle of this Rachel Maddow clip. The rest of the video is pretty funny, too, but the best part is the fake Sarah Palin.

Town Hall Debate
1) This debate turned out much better than I was being led to expect. I had heard ahead of time how it was supposed to be lame because the format was so limited, with no follow-up questions, no exchanges between the candidates, questions submitted in advance, no cameras on audience reaction, etc. I even heard a rumor that the candidates were ( Read more... ) -
On a much lighter note
You know who Sarah Palin reminds me of? She totally reminds me of the Buffy-bot! Especially during the debate when she started talking about the vice president's job, it sounded so much like the Buffy-bot perkily reciting irrelevant pre-programmed statements like, "School is where we go to learn things!" -
Shadow, a great cat
For anyone who hasn't already heard from lolaraincoat , we have lost Shadow, who was the first pet I got as an adult not living with my parents, and a really great companion who helped me through some hard times. The teenage boys on our block who are working really really hard at being tough, the ones who hang out in our alley and practice their swearing, they have discovered these little gas-powered remote-controlled toy cars, and they race them up and down the block incessantly for hours at a time.
